Read A Shakespeare Play About Dragons Day

Talk Like Shakespeare Day/William Shakespeare's Birthday.

FYI:

1) I read a ton of books that have dragons as characters in them.

2) Listen mostly to audiobooks, and I get the majority from the library.

Spend a fair amount of time requesting audiobooks, signing onto the library app queue for popular ones, and fret often as UK authors aren't published in The States for months after they are first published at home, and I have to keep an eye out to make sure I'll get the audiobook when it first drops, rather than waiting for 75 people to listen to it first.  (Competitive, aren't I?)

3) Learned to love Shakespeare when in High School, age 16 or 17, when our teacher assigned each of us parts in a play, and we read our lines out loud.

4/17 is International Bat Appreciation Day

Bats are crucial members of the environment. 

They provide pest control, disease control, and even medical assistance to humans. 

Bats are responsible for the pollination and seed dispersal of many plant species and help with plant regrowth after fires and habitat destruction. 

Without bats, we wouldn’t have things like tequila, bananas, mango, and avocados.

We are thankful for bats.

Bats are flying mammals of the order Chiroptera.

Wanderer

This week's Henry update is brought to you by Wednesday, 'cause Thursday's and Friday's post are already full with other things.

Our H.S.T.B.F.F* fella is really getting around Henryville these days.

He may be wary, but he knows when it's dinnertime.

Look at that face, he's telling me that I need to step away from the keyboard, to put some gushy goodness into that empty bowl.

The humans cannot yet touch Henry, and if someone is moving too fast, he'll head for the hills.

Henry squeaks and trills, so he's sorta singing for his supper, no?

Spring Tiger

It's PO'Monday, and let's turn back time to April 16, 2016.

Our Celestial Paddy was all over the yard, enjoying the sunshine, and the hopes that Spring really had arrived.

Eightball

Last Sunday morning, I noticed a plea from a neighbor, about an injured community cat.

I messaged, saying I have humane traps to share.

My neighbor lives two blocks away, so I dropped off the trap and showed them how to use it.

I was texted that the trapping was successful, and they were on their way to the lost cost spay/neuter clinic nearby a day later.

Word was that Eightball's injury was severe, but some antibiotics, stitches, and a day or two of rest would do the trick.

He was also neutered, the 'N' in TNR.

I picked up the trap after Eightball was released Friday morning, with his info written on a piece of tape.

And surprise!

While on my evening walk that day, I spied Eightball a street away.

Black cat, with a huge shaved area...that's him!

I'll keep my eyes peeled for future sightings while out and about in the 'hood.

I've made a donation to All About Animals Rescue in Eightball's name; they are a important resource for our community.

I've turned off the comments for this post, as this was all handled by Eightball's carer; she feeds about four community cats, plus has four cats inside.

Our trap may have made it possible, but we did little to make this one cat's life better; our neighbor did the heavy lifting.

Looking closer, it seems Manny has a bald patch!

It's not the usual cat bald patch; this one (and on the other side) is pronounced.

And we know whom the over-licky culprit is.

Yes, it's sibling Chili Bruce!

For a brief moment, someone who will remain anonymous was fearing all kinds of cat diseases, symptoms, etc, until The Hubby gave testimony that he's watched CB give his brofur some serious bathing.

Whew...am thankful for that...

Hoof and Horn

Dol dhan bhòrd-leabhar

Tartan Day is celebration of Scottish heritage and the cultural contributions of Scottish and Scottish-diaspora figures of history.

"Dol dhan bhòrd-leabhar" is Scottish Gaelic for Go To The Library (according to Google), as this week is National Library Week, which is always the second full week in April.

I love the library!

As has been mentioned in the past, I'd be without any money if I purchased all of the books that I've read recently!

I attend free lectures, and use the 3-D printer, and help with jigsaw puzzles.

I check out books, I use apps to get ebook and audiobooks.
