Let's Ban Censorship

 Banned Books Week 2025

October 5 - October 11, 2025

Author and Actor David Duchovny said the following at an American Library Association "How I Library" episode:

"If you cloister a mind, if you ban books that disagree with the prevailing sense of what is right or wrong, or what is religious or non-religious, or what is affecting young people or not affecting young people; if you cloister that mind you leave it weak and undefended.

You have to go out into the marketplace of ideas to figure out which one wins for you.

You can't spoon feed people.

You can't spoon feed a culture."

  2. As I always say, if you don’t like a book, don’t read it! But don’t stop others from reading it if they want. Pancake is a cutie!

  3. If your society is good, then reading about others won't be a danger. If it is bad, then reading about others should be encouraged.

  5. Pancake is a cutie - right?

Banning books is plain weird. I may not like some books but I have made up my mind because I read lots so was able to make an informed decision.

  7. No banned books! If you don't want to read it, fine, I might not either, but it shouldn't be banned.

Pancake is very handsome and the white whisker quite fetching.

  8. BPWBB. Ban People Who Ban Books. Reading allows ones world to grow and expand beyond themselves into worlds they might never see or know. It allows for imagination and creative thinking and encourages problem solving. Reading is educating oneself. The banning of even one single book is ignorant, done by one or more ignorant people.
