It's Formerly Feral Friday, and Henryville has been a snoozefest.
Henry spends a tiny bit of time playing with toys, then he climbs on the bed to enjoy his dreams in softness and warmth.
However, this human has been concerned as Henry stopped eating his meals, preferring to only lick churu sticks, like those pictured below.
There have been no changes to his food, same bowls as always, and no differences noticed in his litter box depositing.
This began on Tuesday, so by the time this post appears, he's either over whatever it was, or I've scheduled a vet appointment.
Oh, H Man, please eat your dinner!
~UPDATE~
Called the vet's office Thursday afternoon, and was told that if I could bring him in right away, they'd have time to see him.
Whelp...Henry removed 'formerly' from his FERAL!
He hissed, he jumped, he pooped, he growled, and he ran like the wind, and hid like a ninja!
Gotta admire his stamina.
The pic above is Henry perched on the railing overlooking the stairs below, and that's when I called a halt to persuading him into the carrier.
He did NOT go to the vet.
We'll be keeping an eye on him, and hope he'll return to his usual eating manner, and doesn't try to kill me in my sleep in retribution.

Sorry to hear that he has something wrong. Hopefully it's not a bad tooth or more. All this time of getting comfortable with you one look at a cat carrier and he's gone back to his former self. But I'm sure that's only temporary.

ReplyDeleteOh, no! I'm glad your veterinary clinic could see him right away and sorry it fell through. For the first time ever, one of our cats (Terra) fought so hard I lost my grip trying to get her in the carrier. I succeeded on the second try with hubby's help and only received a tiny accidental scratch. Whew!

ReplyDeleteAs formerly feral as he may be most of the time, anything to do with a carrier is going to bring back to his memory his unceremonious deposit at the vet’s for neutering and as such will not be tolerated. At least, that’s my theory.

ReplyDeleteEven a fully socialized-from-birth cat fears the carrier because cats naturally fear being contained with no escape. For several of my "former ferals," including even Basil all his life, and Mariposa, I either had to scruff and dump into a huge carrier on its end and slam the door--that's the old way--or two 100mg doses of powdered gabapentin in food or churu, one hour apart, then have the carrier ready to go, top-opening preferred, and catch them in that overlap. Good luck! It's really scary when they do that!

ReplyDeleteHenry sounds just like Raleigh. The maneuvers to get him to the vet are legendary in our house. At least he is eating churus. And it was very nice of him to share his belly with us.
