☂️10 February was National Umbrella Day🌂
Celebrating doesn’t require rain; enjoy a cocktail with an umbrella, watch a related movie ("Singing in the Rain" anyone?), or simply appreciate the umbrella’s design and history.
A search on my photo library pulled up the following:

Of course, the word umbrella does not in itself refer to rain, but rather to shade. In Japan, ladies still use "umbrellas" in the summer to shade them from the sun!
ReplyDeletePurrs,
The Chans
Of course the picture with the kitties is the cutest. But I enjoyed your article. And also the above comment about using the umbrella for shade. As it used to be decades ago even in this country.
ReplyDeleteHaving been born and raised in England, naturally Mummy appreciates the umbrellas (mol). Of course, We especially like the picture with the kitties!
ReplyDeleteThe kitties under the umbrella is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteWell, I sure didn't know about this special day but as it turns out I celebrated about an hour ago!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed those!
ReplyDeleteWe liked this those very much, especially the one of the kitties under the umbrella. :)
ReplyDeleteI like umbrellas; I like their idea. They are a neat invention. And a city in the rain, Paris or London, is quite different than a city in sunshine. For one thing, one needs an umbrella...
ReplyDeleteKeep your brolly handy. I like the artwork you found.
ReplyDeleteNice pics, especially the kitties!
ReplyDeleteCute picture with the black cats.
ReplyDeleteWe didn’t need an umbrella today!
ReplyDeleteI love your version with the cats and the umbrella.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this fun post. My new-ish beach umbrella hasn't yet seen surf and sand (sigh) but is great for sunny and rainy days. :D Best wishes!
