    I am amazed that it is still not banned in the US! It has been banned in the UK for more than 25 years and also widely in Europe. Also I think in Australia and New Zealand. I remember reading a few years back that the state of New York was going to ban it. Did that happen? Come on America, start showing some humanity to our furry friends instead of torture!

      Yes, New York State made it illegal, now Maryland, Massachusetts, and Virginia have done the same. There are many cities where it's illegal: West Hollywood, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Berkeley, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Santa Monica, and Burbank, in California, and
      Austin (Texas), Denver (Colorado), Madison (Wisconsin), Pittsburgh and Allentown (Pennsylvania), St. Louis and St. Louis County (Missouri), and Washington, D.C. I've found a cat veterinarian who will not declaw, but it's still legal in Michigan, dammit.

    Declawing a cat is absolute torture. I don't know who invented it when they did, but that person just started the whole ball rolling.

    It's sad this is still going on. Our Angel Dolly was declawed, but she was that way when we adopted her. We could tell her paws weren't quite right when she walked.

    When I was a kid, everyone I knew just did it automatically, like it was no big deal. Now we all know better and it should be banned.
