Hard Stare

It's Caturday!

Manny was surveying his domain from the top o' the fridge.

I artified him with Prisma filter Bouquet.

Tandems

A response to I Have Three Cats' blog post "Snoozing in Black and White", when Da Boyz are mentioned as tandem black cat nappers.

Here are a few arty items gathered that feature twin black cats:

'Two Reclining Black Cats" 1913 by Franz Marc.
Image found on social media.

Twin Black Cats Painting, found somewhere on social media.

Twin Black Kittens Photo, found somewhere on social media.

If you've got something good, why not have two, amIright?

So thankful for these two hooligans; love 'em to pieces!

CB is left, No Eyebrows Manny is right.
In MY chair.

Henry Update:

The thumb that Henry bit is fine; thank you for your concerns.

The H Man is doing well, except for those loose stools.

Have been in contact with the vet's office regarding this, and they feel our next step is chemotherapy.

We've discussed pricing, the medicines themselves, and the different delivery methods of an injection once a month or a pill every two weeks.

Jabs are in office; pill is given at home.

I am mulling over this information, and have discussed with The Hubby as to which makes the most sense for Henry and for us.

If anyone has been through this process, I'd appreciate your input.

Thank you!

You Otter Know

"World Otter Day takes place on the last Wednesday in May each year.

The day was established by International Otter Survival Fund (IOSF) to help draw attention to otters, celebrate them, and raise awareness and support for their conservation globally.

The aim is to put otters on the map, and at the forefront of people’s mind!" -- IOSF Website

Otters are watercats, in my book, and they are adorable!

A few sillies:

😻😻😻

Henry Update:

The H Man is doing well.

We have a terrific med routine, and he's eating.

Look at him in the photo above; the dude really has no worries.

And that's the way we like it!

What A Bite

 On May 26, 1897, Bram Stoker's Dracula was published.

The gothic horror story is legendary, and you've got to believe that I've collected a few sillies for your viewing pleasure:

Just wait, as I've collected memes and cartoons for more monsters:

Godzilla
Dragons
Bigfoot
Space Aliens
and more!

~~~
Henry Update:
He looks innocent, but Henry bit me.
I was absentmindedly petting him while looking at my phone, and *CHOMP*!
My left thumbnail is purple, turning black, and there's a hole near the tip of the pad.
This occurred days ago, and I've taken all precautions against developing an infection from a puncture wound made by cat teeth.
As I push pills into his maw with my right thumb, we are all doing just fine.
A lesson in staying focused.
Sorrow For Those Lost To Us
Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for mourning the U.S. military personnel and animals who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
It is observed on the last Monday of May.
🇺🇸
Rest in Peace, and we citizens know the high price of freedom.
*Waves To Crowd From Carriage*
May 24 is International Tiara Day!
"Barbara Bellissimo is generally regarded as the person who invented this holiday back in 2005.
She chose May 24th for the holiday because it coincides with Queen Victoria’s birthday, which occurred in 1819.
The purpose of this holiday is to encourage women everywhere to wear a tiara and get in touch with their inner princesses, and as a result, their inner beauty." - HolidaysCalendar.com
Only one tiara at Eastside Cats, and it belonged to Celestial Sweetie. ❤️
👑 💎 👑
Purrfect for Selfie Sunday!
~~~

Henry Update:

Henry hid on Saturday morning, to avoid his meds.

Henryville has two bedrooms, the spare room, and the old kitchenette, as well as my office.

I must close doors to remove access to Henry's hideaways, but didn't latch one well enough, and it swung open enough for him to sneak off to the linen closet.

In the end, he received his doses.

Someone needs to do a better job of door management!

Cat Bees

May 20 was World Bee Day!

Folks, we'll really be in the soup if there are no bees; their pollinating efforts create food for so many critters, including humans.

No bees = no food.

Our governments need to focus on saving our planet and ALL of its inhabitants, as should every person who lives here.

1. Support and Preserve Bee Habitats
2. Go Chemical-Free for Bees
3. Choose Bee-Friendly Plants
4. Go Underground for Bees
5. Trees for Bees
6. Let Stems Bee
7. Always Bee Learning (and Sharing!)
8. Bee a Volunteer
9. Engage in Community Science
10. Bee the Change: Take Action

Please be nice to the bees!

However, bees are insects, and to me, they don't really make great subjects for artification, so here's a sleepy Manny, with Lunapic's Color Pencil Sketch Effect, then the Mono filter in iPhoto.

Henry Update:

Henry seems to be sailing along.

If not with his past exuberance, then with at least an interest in watching out the windows, and hanging with his humans.

The H Man now walks across our bodies, and has nestled atop me like a mountaineer scaling great heights, with at least one paw squashing some unmentionable part of me.

Seastruck

May 22 is National Maritime Day.
"National Maritime Day is a United States federal observance created to recognize the maritime industry. It is observed on May 22, the date in 1819 that the American steamship Savannah set sail from Savannah, Georgia on the first ever transoceanic voyage under steam power." - Wikipedia

My beloved uncle, my father's brother, was a Merchant Marine.

This is woo-woo stuff, yet I believe I was a seaperson or sailor in a previous life, possibly from Britain.

Also am drawn to water, and this could be why I live in The Great Lakes State in this life, yet I get seasick at the drop of a hat!

Am captivated by sailing ships especially, and have a 22-volume set of The Seafarers published by Time-Life Books from 1978 to 1982, which arrived monthly, and I so enjoyed unpacking each book and placing it on my shelf.

How 'bout some cat & boat sillies for this day?

A greeting card purchased while vacationing in London; The Owl and The Pussycat, in the pea-green boat.

This is why people with cats can't have nice things.
Not at all sure where or why this image was created, but why not cats as Vikings or marauders?

😹 😹 😹

Henry Update:

Henry: "Really?"

Scared The H Man like crazy on Thursday, while removing the bedclothes for wash day.

Something about the pillows makes him jump, and I mistakenly grabbed the one behind him.

Like a cartoon character, Henry's feets were scrambling, but couldn't find purchase for a second, so he flailed away until his claws bit, and he dashed away to hide in the linen closet.

Sorry, dude!

He came back to nosh from his bowl, so he's okay, even if a bit wary as I replace all bedding.

~~~
P.S. Something has changed with Blogger; it used to update My Favorite Blogs when each had a new post, but somehow that isn't working anymore.
Apologies if I've lapsed in commenting; I'd start at the top and work my way down before.
Now I know that this is an inaccurate way to go about it.
Hugs
May 21st is International Tea Day!
Yes, yes...there are multiple tea holidays every year, because so many folks around the world drink the stuff.
I drink tea: Irish Breakfast, Earl Grey, Moroccan Mint Green, Peppermint, and Chamomile.
Drink 'em straight, with no sugar or milk added.
What teas do you like, or do you prefer coffee?
So very thankful that we have a wide selection of teas for our taste buds to enjoy.
~~~

Henry Update:

The Kid is doing well.

We've established our routine, and if his bowl goes empty overnight, he'll wake me to fill it.

Am happy to lose the sleep, because it means he's eating!

Howdy, Sheriff!

OOPS!  I hit the 'publish now' button instead of 'publish tomorrow!'

It's Walkin' and Readin' Wednesday!

As seen while on 'the hoof' in my neighborhood:

This licky kitty has a caretaker.
This kitty also has a caretaker.
Image nabbed from the Macomb County Sheriff's Department website

The other day, I was stopped by two different Sheriff's Department squad cars, as the officers were looking for anyone who could identify a youngster found running in the middle of the street nearby.

I did not recognize the photo, continued on my walk as I witnessed the squad cars driving all over the place, stopping other neighbors.

A few hours later, on our community Facebook feed, a report advised that the parents were located, and everyone is safe.

It's just not every day that I get to chat with two handsomes in uniform while strolling in the 'hood! 😻

Seriously, am simply glad all is well.

***

Three recently listened to audiobooks that I recommend, and I'm on a British mystery kick:

The Keeper, by Tana French
Book #3 in the Cal Hooper trilogy
Narrated by Roger Clark

"Retired detective Cal Hooper moves to a remote village in rural Ireland. His plans are to fix up the dilapidated cottage he's bought, to walk the mountains, to put his old police instincts to bed forever." - Goodreads

Love listening to the Irish narration, and the mysteries are intricate, the characters feel real, and I'll miss them now that the series is over.  Book #3 The Keeper starts with a young woman's body found in a stream, and Lena (Cal's fiancee) was the last person to see her alive.

How to Get Away with Murder, by Rebecca Philipson
Narrated by Michael Geary and Tamsin Kennard
Standalone Novel

"This fresh debut thriller finds a Scotland Yard detective trying to find the author of a self-help book that promises quite literally to teach readers how to get away with murder, which seems to have inspired London's newest murderer." - Goodreads

The Burial Place by Stig Abell
Book #3 in the ongoing Jake Jackson Series
Narrated by Oliver Hembrough

"For years, Jake Jackson has been a high-flying detective in London. But then one day he receives a letter from his reclusive uncle – he has left Jake his property in the middle of the countryside. For Jake, it is the perfect opportunity for a fresh start for a quiet life in Caelum Parvum." - Goodreads

Book #3 The Burial Place begins with the nearby archaeology dig finding bodies; fresh ones.

Henry Update:

The H Man doesn't like open windows, and he also doesn't like the window air-conditioner noise, nor the fans blowing either.  Poor baby.  Then the thunderbooms come along, and he's happy to live on the floor of the linen closet.  Smart cat!

No noticeable changes since we've added the new antibiotic, reduced the steroids from two pills a day to one-and-1/2 pills, and the doubling of his fiber powder.

❤️❤️❤️
