Missing Cat: A Re-creation

We lost Chucky this morning.  Looked high and low...he was gone! Disappeared!  Vamoosed!

Then, I opened the coat closet, and out he ran!  I've recreated the scene here, while NOT at home:

Our closet at home is a french door
Recreation of closet door opening!

City The Kitty looks fierce!
Recreation of cat leaving the closet!
(Using City the Kitty's calendar, without permission...)
As I left the house and jumping into The Cat Car, I managed to snap a couple of photos of a long black cat in high dudgeon, now hiding in the bay window.

The view from The Cat Car
The view from the inside of my car

"I'm gonna hork up a hairball on your pillow for that!"
Chuck looking back at me with a pitiful
look on his face...but maybe that was
because of my reflection in the glass
or the peeling paint?
Apparently, he snuck into the coat closet when I opened it to hang my coat up after feeding The 'O' Cats.  Usually, that coat closet door stays open a wee bit open, so Chuck probably thought he could get out again, but I had done a good job of closing it.

Poor Chucky!  But, it was only 20 minutes of incarceration!  I think he hates me...

  1. Ha. To a feline, 20 minutes equals 20 elebenty hundred hours. But we're sure you will be forgiven... after a few pounds of treats. PS: many, many years ago a Cat Who Came Before, Tiger, got trapped in the kitchen cabinet. Poor girl was there all day long. All she had to do was nudge open the door but she didn't realize that.

    1. When Angel and Chuck were young'uns, Angel got stuck in the walk-in closet, where she slept all afternoon until we freed her in the evening. That's when we learned to count cat noses before leaving the house!

  2. My 8-month-old foster kitten and my kitten managed to lock themselves in the bathroom. I don't know how long they'd been in there before I discovered the shut door. We suspect Chuck won't get in another closet anytime soon!

    1. Actually, I'm a bit concerned that he's trying to hide himself, but The Hubby thinks that I am overreacting. I'm on careful watch.

  3. Re-creation (emphasis on Creation!) is right! I love this -so funny--though not for poor Chuck I am sure! He is likely plotting revenge this very minute. I good parent would have a cat door put in every closet! ;0

    1. A cat door in every closet...that's a good idea! Except for the closet where I hang all of my scarves; Chuck LURVS to eat tassels or anything stringy/ropey. That one has to be cat-free.

  4. We bet he'll forget all about it by dinner time. Once I got shut out into the garage...in the wintertime...for a couple of hours. Now that was horrible! ~Ernie

  5. Poor kitty, they don't like closed doors. I am sure Chucky will forgive you.

    1. He 'herded' three of my wooly socks downstairs this afternoon, so maybe he's okay with me now!

  6. Since we cats don't tell time, it would feel like forever!
Glad to hear Chucky was released!

  7. Poor Chuck! We're sure he'll forgive you, though. It reminds Caroline of the time William somehow got her into the bathroom vanity at the house--despite the child-proof lock!! Needless to say, she could not get out again, although she pulled in the throw rug inside trying to. Mom figures she was stuck for a few hours until she got home, found her and rescued her.

  9. Oh goodness, poor Chuck! Our first cat Linus got shut in my Mum's linen closet once when we were visiting. I was getting ready to go to bed and realized I hadn't seen him in a couple hours. My Mum remembered she had put some sheets away after supper so I went and looked. He was snuggled down in the sheets and didn't want to come out. So we just left the door open and he slept there all night. In the last photo Chuck just looks like he is going to miss you!

  12. Ohhhh I hear you and feel your pain. I learned a valuable lesson about closets once. They are dark and dreary and lonely when you enter one on the 2nd floor and the peeps are on the 1st floor w/ no idea the peril you are facing. I sure am glad all ended well
    Hugs madi your bfff

  14. Imprisoned for 20 minutes? he's probably traumatized for life. :)

Just wondering, have you considered adding a means to contact you? We have a Blogger contact widget in our sidebar where readers can find it easily. It's very helpful.

  15. LOL, funny re-creation! When Benny was younger he would often sneak into closets and be trapped for 30 minutes, and a couple of hours a few times. Thankfully, he's stopped doing that now.
