Today is the birthday of Post Impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh: 3/30/1853-7/29/1890
A few sillies that were found on social media:
To be serious, I recommend:
"Van Gogh's Ear: The True Story" by Bernadette Murphy, published in 2016.
An easy read, full of interesting details about what happened on the night of 12/23/1888.
There is also a Public Broadcasting System episode from the Secrets of the Dead series that follows Bernadette's research, and how she and her team uncovered the missing piece of evidence that had solved the mystery of Van Gogh's ear: the actual notebook of the doctor who treated Vincent, with a drawing of the injury.
Just a little cut on the earlobe, or something much more?
If you don't want to read the book or watch the show, send me a comment and I'll tell you what the author found.

Henry Update:
The panic...yes, I was panicky!...has lessened, since he's being friendly and allowing pets, he sleeps in the bed at night, and so far is making the correct deposits in the litter box.
Saturday evening, he excitedly started on a churu, but backed away from it after about 1/3 of it was gone.
He allowed combing and snuggles afterward.
Sunday afternoon, he snacked from his food bowl, eating about a tablespoonful of wet food.
Thanks for the wishes that he's better; it's making a difference.
❤️

Oh dear. We're just catching up on Henry and hope he continues getting better. Dad chuckled at the mask funny.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to VVG! There are so many different theories as to what actually happened on that day and the days leading up to it. Some sound absurd, but others possibly right. I haven't got the book or able to access the PBS.
ReplyDeleteI am glad there is a little improvement with Henry and hope it continues.
I know about all of the theories, which is why when this researcher/author discovered the actual notes written by the actual doctor who attended Vincent, my money is on this bit of information. The whole ear, except for a flap of earlobe. Gross, sorry, but there it is.
DeleteI'm not a real art lover, but that's just me. I like things that look real. But Van Gogh obviously had a talent. Henry you need to start eating more and that's all there is to it!
ReplyDeleteYou get better Henry and eat more. So precious.
ReplyDeleteLove the funnies. Love the mask one the best.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to the kitties. ♥
Henry, what in the world is the matter??? Our cats scare us terribly most times.
ReplyDeleteIt's still worrying that Henry isn't eating much. Does it still seem to be a tooth-problem?
ReplyDeleteJohn, I've been thinking that, but until his eyes started to water...a lot!...just today, the evidence was thin. Now, for sure, he needs a professional to check him out. A bad tooth or something in his mouth would cause him to avoid thick foods, relying on the thin churu goop, and something is going on with his peepers.
DeleteGood funnies. I hope Henry continues to improve.XO
ReplyDeleteContinued purrs for sweet Henry...
ReplyDeleteEars to the famous Vincent dude!
ReplyDeleteI found the book on Internet Archives! Thank you for sharing that, the giggles, and Henry's improvements. Hugs and best wishes, my dear.
ReplyDeleteDoes Henry's mouth hurt ?
ReplyDeleteVan Gogh was amazing, his inner torment breaks my heart.
ReplyDeleteCats, of course, have very few taste buds and mostly rely on smell to decide if and what to eat, so if Henry’s eyes are watering and perhaps the nose is stuffy, it would put him off his food and need a vet’s treatment. I’m praying you can get him there with minimal trauma to all.
I love the mug
