Cats at The Museum

May 18 is International Museum Day, and this year the objective is to raise awareness about the fact that, “Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples.”

Have snapped photos of cats at art and natural history museums in my travels; here are a few:

The Graham Children, 1742
William Hogarth
The National Gallery, London
See the wee kitten watching the bird in the upper right?
Replica of Persian cat sculpture by
Richard H. Recchia
The Feline Historical Museum, Alliance, Ohio
Ancient Egypt
Bastet figure
The Field Museum, Chicago, Illinois
Cat and Bird, 1928
Paul Klee
Museum of Modern Art, New York
Tiger Rug, made of Maneki Neko cat images
The Lucky Cat MEWseum, Cincinnati, Ohio

Visit a museum; you'll learn something, I guarantee it.

  1. I think all of those images and items are wonderful. We are both very taken by the sculptures, in fact we would happily have them in our home.

  8. We love seeing these cats in museums. In that first one, we can almost hear the cat chattering that that bird!

  10. Great post, and being a cat lover like I am, you have made my day! I am so glad to have found you again! We used to follow each other's blogs when I was at Linda's Relaxing Lair. I had no computer for more than 7 years and due to the amount of time that had passed, I lost access to my old blog. I started a new blog at Linda's Relaxing Lair (link is in my profile). I have missed you and your posts as well as your visits and kind comments on my blog.

I hope you are doing well and wanted to let you know that I am back again, and where to find me. Your blog is lovely!
