Decade

Due to upcoming events, we'll be posting our usual posts out of order this week.

It's PO'Monday...on Sunday.

April, 2014; can you believe it was a decade ago?!?
Celestial Paddy O'Malley was a terrific subject for photos.

His coloring was easy for the iPhone camera settings to capture without too much fuss.

Rotten Photography

It's Twozday!

Snapping cutesy photos of Da Boyz can be a trial.

The camera lens captures something completely different from what my eyes see.

I try different colors, different focus, and snap a dozen photos to pick out one or two that I like.

Here is an example of my poor photography skills:
Used 'mono' setting...
I think the flash went off here...
...and this one is blurred!
If you can see the back feet on one, and front paws on the other, then at least I've conveyed the cuteness of Da Boyz!

If you cannot, then chalk it up to my inability to use my phone's camera talents appropriately.

Or the fact that Michigan in Winter is grey and sunless; when Spring arrives, perhaps better lighting will make all the difference!

HA!

Thankful Thursday: Cat Photos

Mango, under the tree in Florida
Used with permission from P&M
Sure, I love cats!  I take photos of the Eastside Cats, and the neighborhood cats, and any other cats that I am privileged to visit.

And I have friends near and far, who send to me a steady and LOVELY stream of images of their own critters, like Mango above.  Isn't he gorgeous?  Getting these images just make my day...I LOVE THEM!  Spied a t-shirt somewhere, that said, "Show me your kits!", and although it's totally inappropriate for a mature, professional woman such as I, it's the darn truth...whip out your phone, and show me your cat pictures!

Obviously, I have a bottomless well of desire to look at cats, and dogs too.  And my fellow bloggers...you too keep my need to peer at cats almost in abeyance!  This, I am thankful for.

Taking photos on an old iPhone in overhead, florescent light does not bode well for great results, however walking all over the building while I try to find better lighting does not bode well for my job!

There is still more room on

Photobombed Again

Sweetie is incredibly difficult to photograph.  She dislikes when I stare or aim a camera or phone at her, plus her black fur is not easy to catch in either bright sunlight or shadow.  I keep trying, and have been since she first appeared in 2009.

Patty O'Malley only wants me to pay attention to him, so while I'm trying to snap some fantastic view of Sweetie...he simply walks right into the frame to photobomb.  After I give him enough attention, he'll stroll off again.  The images above are in sequential order.

New Cat Photo Frame

A recent pic of Chucky
The office credenza

Yep, I found another cool cat photo frame while at the resale shop on Saturday!  Ssshhh...don't tell The Hubby!  He thinks it's 'weird' that I have so many cat frames. Oh, but he can sit on his keister all day to watch TV images of men running around after, a) basketballs (Congrats to the Cleveland Cavaliers!), b) baseballs, c) soccer balls, d) golf balls, or e) tearing apart old, rusty automobiles and repainting, repairing, and re-engine-ing them.  Like any of that is more fun than my cat photos!

Office Cat Collection

Yep, my photo collection at the office keeps growing!  (Except for a kid photo of The Hubby, in the center.)  I also pin cat images to my board, and my favorite is from FatCatArt entitled "Leonardo da Vinci, Mona Lisa, True Version".  So even when I am away from my furr babies, I continue to enjoy their fuzzy faces!

Cat Photos Disaster Averted

Saturday began like any other day.  But when I loaded the library movie DVD into my iMac computer, it would not play, nor would it eject again. Horrors!  I searched online to find a solution. Reboot, reset, hold down four keys...nothing worked.  In desperation, I called Apple Support, and made an appointment to bring my computer to the local store for a check-up on Sunday.  Overnight, I thought that maybe I had inadvertently left an old CD of cat photos in the optical drive, and I had stuffed a second DVD in there. No wonder things aren't working!

Next morning, with The Hubby's help, we put double-faced tape on an old credit card, and managed to fish out the library DVD.  Whew!  But no other CD or DVD or anything came out of that slot.  I tried to scour the internet again, looking for self-help...and our internet service went down!  So did our TV feed, and the hour was close approaching when NFL games were broadcast.  OH NOES! After calls and reboots, we got our internet and TV back, but that darn optical drive was a no go. I started worrying about the 10,000 or 11,000 (yep, thousand!) cat and family photos I have on my computer; could they be in trouble too?  Sweat broke out on my forehead. No way was I losing Chuck and Angel's baby photos, or pics of Sammy and George, who are no longer with us!

The nice people at the Apple store whisked me to the Genius Bar, and my iMac was looked over. The 2009 optical drive is kaput, and they no longer make parts for it.  We discussed obtaining a external CD/DVD drive ($20-$30), and that's when I asked about backing up my cat photos.  Let's face it; they are mostly cat photos, with a couple of hundred of family or travel. That's when the price tag jumped to $70, for an external drive of one terabyte.  I gladly handed the credit card over, because CAT PHOTOS MUST BE SAVED, at all costs.

Computer back home, and The Hubby hooked up our old DVD player, so I could finally watch the movie from the library without incurring late fees. Only shot about ten cat photos this weekend, due to these other issues, but now they are all safe!  Disaster averted!
