Adopt A Shelter Pet Day

April 30 is Adopt A Shelter Pet Day!

Eastside Cats adopted Manny and Chili Bruce from Michigan Humane.

These two have been the bestest housepanthers, and we will adopt again.

❤️❤️❤️

April 30 is National Tabby Day!

Celestial Paddy O'Malley

Henry the Ninth

Eastside Cats have been owned by two tabby cats, Paddy O' and Henry.

Two such terrific kitties!

❤️❤️❤️

Henry's Health Update:

He gave me a fright by not eating much all day, but managed to eat up a goodly portion after his 8 PM meds.

The pooplogs I was so pleased about have turned back into loose stuff, yet the B12 sprinkled into his food just started a few days ago; best give it a bit longer to see if he adapts.

Henry got a spa treatment on Wednesday; a good combing, and then brushies.

He LURVs to bunt his noggin against any part of a human he can reach, and he's so cute.

Let's Hop!

  1. Well, first off, we hope Henry's doing okay and continues to eat well. Dad got a chuckle out of your pooplogs comment. Made him think of Loverboy's "Turn Me Loose" for some reason. His old buddy and blog founder orbit was a cuddly, sleek house panther and older buddy and best friend ever Isaac was the most loving tabby he's ever known.

    1. Angel Orbit was a cat amongst cats! Right now, Henry's er...um...output in the litter box is more than Da Boyz's, and there are two of them! We just have to find a balance in his innards that makes him happy, and us too. Will be a work in progress, although I get down on myself for any misstep. Henry doesn't seem to hate me, so guess that's good?!? 🙀

  2. Thank you, Vicky! How can you tell Manny and Chili apart?? I am so glad today is Tabby Day; but I think that means I have to give our Tuxedo boy, the only un-tabby, extra love today.

I see you have already read A Deadly Episode which I have not gotten to yet. But oh yes, I'm definitely waiting for Marble Hall Murders and I'm waiting for the PBS version also. I have fallen in love with Horowitz! I even keep re-watching the early episodes of Midsomer Murders that he wrote.

    1. Have sent you a friend request in Goodreads. If you haven't already read them, I recommend Anthony Horowitz's 2 Sherlock Holmes books, and there is a novella too. Haven't read his kids books, nor have I watched any of the Midsomer Murders just because I watch so little TV these days. As to telling Manny and Chili Bruce apart, it's been a running joke here for years. When we first adopted them, CB had one white whisker. A few months later, it was gone, then we were in a real pickle. Over time, body shape, head shape, and the fact that Manny has a really big white spot on his belly helped out, but flipping a cat over isn't easy. In the last few years, CB has licked his brofurs head bald over his eyes, so Manny has this surprised look, and this makes them easier to tell apart. 😹

    1. I apologize to him twice a day, when I have to give him his pills, but he rarely even moves from his place before, during, and after, so I get a modicum of relief that I'm not a monster to him.

  4. Step by step with Henry... I have one tabby, my fat-head, Moxy. Oh and a couple of newborn tabbies. For whatever reason, I just haven't ended up with many tabbies.

  5. Those shelter pets are the bestest, but so was Paddy and so is sweet Henry. Keep doing better Henry, it's important. Your Mom might have to switch to giving you B12 injections. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

    1. Will def ask the vet about home injectable B12.

  6. Shelter cats are so appreciative when they are adopted! Have you thought about giving B12 injections? The injectible version has been found to be better absorbed than oral. And it's easy to do. That's what I did with my crew when needed.

    1. Henry has received B12 injections at the vet, but I wasn't told about me being able to do it at home. Thanks for that info; I'll ask the vet.

  7. Shelter pets are wonderful. I have had 4 from shelters, most of mine just appeared in the yard. I am praying for Henry. XO

  8. Awww... What precious kitties. I'm sorry you got another scare.

Meanwhile, our Terra has poohed gushy messes her entire life yet nothing adverse ever showed up on examinations. I should check with the vet about B12. Hugs and best wishes, my dear.

    1. We know we are still in the early stage of working out what is best for Henry; it's only been a little over a week on this 7-med regimen, and from the comments from a few, the B12 may need to be a shot rather than powder in a capsule.

  9. Adoption is the only option! Henry has become such a love bug, and he knows the wonderful care you're giving him.

    1. It's nice to pet Henry, and not feel all of his vertebrae, as he's gained weight back from a few weeks ago. Never thought he'd be so comfortable with us, and are so thankful that he's now a snuggler.

  10. All of our cats have been from shelters or were strays, they are fabulous felines, all.

I do hope Henry continues to eat.
