In The Bag

July 12 is World Paper Bag Day!

However, paper bags are not as 'green' as we think: the manufacturing process uses a lot of water, fuel, and trees.

Plastic bags have the smaller manufacturing carbon footprint, but then as waste they are awful.

Around Eastside Cats, the paper bag gets as much attention as any cardboard box by Da Boyz.

Here are a few photos:

It's anyone's guess!

We reuse everything, and recycle what can't be reused.

Chili Bruce would happily recycle all of his brofurs meals.

If I knew a scientist, I'd suggest finding a way to make cat litter box waste into something useful, with minimum energy and water needed.

  1. That is why we are teaching Mummy to carry everything on her head. The way they carty things in third-world countries, and so far we have not had any success.

    1. Good luck with that, Ruby!
We'd rather The Hubby carry everything, even those heavy cat litter bags.

  2. Peepers always loved a good grocery sack back in the day. And farther back in the day they were used to cover my school books.

    1. Yes, the yearly ritual of covering one's new school books! A memory long forgotten; think a few brain cells just died pulling it out...hahaha!

  3. Looks like you need more bags so each has their own. Those do make very nice selfies though, including Anyone's Guess ;)
    Have a lovely recyclable week!

  8. Cats must think paper bags are just very weak boxes; still fun, of course. As for litter-box waste, you'd think they could use them in some form of fertiliser, at least the organic forms of cat-litter.

    1. The Hubby unpacks his shopping, and drops the open bags all over the kitchen floor. He often carries a cat-filled bag around, like he's the paper bag Uber.

  13. We've definitely had cats that loved paper bags. We hardn;y ever use them now -- we have reusable bags in our car for whenever we go shopping.

  14. I prefer reusable and when I do get paper, I use them over and over until they fall apart, then they get recycled.

Plastic is everywhere and i scavenge as many as i can to be returned to the store for recycling as it’s better than leaving them for the dump.

  15. The great bag debate... we bought resuable ones because we were sick of having to pay for a plastic bag at the check out, paperbags in the UK haven't been an option for decades in regular stores... Loving todays photos, they are EPIC!!! ✨😻🐾😻✨

  16. The bag-boys are so cute ... here, it's BYOB as much as possible, or you pay-for-paper, good for litter disposal sometimes if no holes!!!
