Please Mr. Punxsutawney Phil...
Some of us have had quite enough of winter.
From Wikipedia:
Common names for the groundhog include chuck, wood-chuck, groundpig, whistle-pig, whistler, thickwood badger, Canada marmot, monax, moonack, weenusk, red monk, land beaver and, among French Canadians in eastern Canada, siffleux.
EDIT: He saw his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter.
Boo Hiss!

Let's Hop!

Yes, let the clouds cover the sunbeams, at least for this day...winter can't leave soon enough!
ReplyDeleteWe have Crystal Blue Sky and a giant Moon ball this morning. But I do not think that Buckeye Chuck can dig his way out of the snow to even look for a shadow.
ReplyDeleteFun post ~ lol ~ Have a great day ~ hugs,

Love the funnies and especially the last one. I laughed out loud.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to the kitties. ♥
Those are terrific, Phil's forecast is not!
ReplyDeleteMy Dad called them Whistle Pigs.
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteCute funnies. :)
ReplyDeleteThat last one is hysterical!
ReplyDeleteIf it helps, it's six weeks until the equinox whether he sees his shadow or not. There's a more complicated explanation, too, but it boils down to whether the last six weeks of winter will be wild or mild. If you had sunshine today, it will be wild. If you had clouds today, it will be mild. That's about it.
ReplyDeleteIt has become a silly little tradition

ReplyDeleteI like the term 'weenusk'; it could be a given name. And the French Canadian name is just when the woodchuck has a cold.
