21 May is designated International Tea Day by The United Nations

Honouring women around the world, from crop to cup

"This year, International Tea Day highlights women and their role in the tea sector.

It is also an opportunity to celebrate the cultural heritage, health benefits and economic importance of tea, while working to make its production sustainable “from field to cup” ensuring its benefits for people, cultures and the environment continue for generations." - United Nations

🐝 Bzzzz ❤️

"Bees and other pollinators, such as butterflies, bats and hummingbirds, are increasingly under threat from human activities.

Pollination is, however, a fundamental process for the survival of our ecosystems. Nearly 90% of the world’s wild flowering plant species depend, entirely, or at least in part, on animal pollination, along with more than 75% of the world’s food crops and 35% of global agricultural land. Not only do pollinators contribute directly to food security, but they are key to conserving biodiversity." - World Bee Day; United Nations

Historic Cats of London

Found this delightful video by Alice Loxton, "History Broadcaster and Author"; this woman enjoys history the way I do.

Hope you enjoy the video as much as I did.

2024 New York Cat Film Festival

Had the unique experience of attending The 2024 New York Cat Film Festival, at the Michigan Theater in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan.
A few images snapped during the movie, which was a selection of short films and cartoons.

Silly, informative, wacky, somber, and delightfully full of cats!

The lineup can be found here.

Am thankful for a chance to engage with other feline enthusiasts, even if I was the only person in the audience wearing cat ears.

A portion of ticket sales is donated to a local animal non-profit, and new dates and locations are added, so keep an eye open to see if The New York Cat Film Festival will be near you.

Straw Between the Ears

Straw Hat Day falls on 15 May, a day dedicated to celebrating straw hats' versatility and timeless appeal.

Chair Thieves

It's Twozday!

As Chili Bruce can be such a lap cat, and Manny moons around like he wants a lap too, we decided to find a comfy chair for us to sit in, making maximum lap area.

My purrsonal goal: read a book, using the lap cat(s) as a book rest.

However, Da Boyz, so far, prefer to use the chair themselves, without human involvement.
"You can't; it's mine!"
If a cat is in the chair, I'll pick him up, and snuggle him in my lap.

CB will stay maybe a full minute.

Manny is away in seconds.

Sure was an expensive cat beddy.

Up on the Hood

It's PO'Monday!

12 May, 2012, late in the day.

Celestial Pommy enjoyed the hood (bonnet) of our old Toyota Camry.

Revontulet

Revontulet: Finnish for "fire fox, or Aurora Borealis

Äiti from Catio Tales believes: "If you watch you can see the tailios of those we have loved and miss so much playing in the lights."

Friday, 10 May, we witnessed our Rainbow Bridge tailios; it was spectacular!!!
Am sure this was my first Northern Lights observation, and feel extra delighted because we'd enjoyed the total solar eclipse last month.

A very special experience.

Sights

Stuff seen in my 'hood:
The world's biggest spent whisker; glad I haven't run into this kitty!
Doggo sculpture...
...and it's matching cat sculpture.
Star hanging out atop a van.
Proof that Henry is using The Cat Hotel!
Thankfully, we haven't experienced wild weather, as has other parts of the US has; only plenty of rain, sun, and temperatures fluctuating down and up, up and down.

As I continue to work from home, I tie up my chuggin' shoes and get out for a walk twice a day.

Unafraid to carry an umbrella, to wear a floppy sun hat, or to wrap my face in a scarf.

And I always have my phone with me, ready to snap a pic of anything that strikes my fancy.
