In The Yard

Some more flora and fauna at Eastside Cats:
Polemonium reptans, Jacob's Ladder
Colias occidentalis, Western Sulphur or Golden Sulphur Butterfly

Arisaema triphyllum, Jack in the Pulpit
Zizia aurea, Golden Alexander
Felis catus, Henry
While not a conventional yard or garden set-up, am thankful the interesting array of plants that we have, and the critters that come to visit.

  1. Pretty wildness in your yard...and even the handsome cat, Henry!!
We have oodles of Jack in the pulpit growing in our wooded area. A lot more than in previous years, because over time I have gotten rid of most of the invasive junk and other bothersome weeds.

    1. It's a lot of work getting rid of invasive plants; they are tenacious. I would love to live in a natural woodland setting.

  2. Henry looks like he's blooming under your care. I haven't seen Jack In a Pulpit for years, there's one park we used to walk through here that has a lot. Just haven't been back in a while.

  4. I'm waiting on my Jacob's Ladder to bloom. I had some at the townhouse, but it didn't do well in the clay. The one I got last winter seems to be thriving and is just budding up.!
I am very jealous of your Jack-in-the-pulpit. Not long after my parents moved into their current house (just over 20 years ago), 20-year-old me went hiking and may have dug up a Jack to bring home. I didn't really think it would take but it loves her yard, comes back year after year and has already multiplied. I want one for my yard now! (though I won't go digging any up - I've got a website I can get them from)

    1. Yep, I've been tempted to dig up plants that I find in the woods, but I won't do it! We have a few native plant nurseries here in Michigan now, even if they are a bit of a trek.
