Angel and Chucky's 13th Gotcha Day!
Thirteen years ago, The Hubby and I drove out and came back with two kittens in a box! The black and white kitten climbed the driver's seat and perched on The Hubby's shoulder, while the dark brown kitten stayed inside the box on my lap in the back seat. We are first-time cat parents, and boy oh boy, have we learned a lot along the way!
Angel
In her favorite napping spot, perfectly furred to her liking!
This is Chucky, a few days ago after he'd been given a dose of the appetite stimulant mirtazapine. Only AFTER we'd given it to him, did I read that it can cause increased vocalization! It's really a form of speed! He kept on like this for almost two days; thankfully he's quieted down now, but we never really saw much of an increase in his appetite. We'll continue to work with yummy flavors and give him fresh food anytime he asks for it.

Happy Gotcha to both your Angel and sweet Chuck with hopes and prayers that they will each be with you for a long, long time ... it was wonderful to read their stories. We also went back a day and read your earlier post, and send hugs for angels loved and lost ... such beautiful memories of so many. Thank you for sharing.
Happy Gotcha Day to Angel and Chuck! I enjoyed the videos very much. Angel is so sweet! Lovely to hear Chuck's voice but he must have gotten very tired after meowing a lot for almost two days. I hope you get to bring more appetite to him. Purrs and smooches xo
Hey! I'm not sure if anyone else has suggested it, but cyproheptadine is another appetite stimulant they can give kitties. Mirtazapine worked really well for Angel Jewel, but it turned Carmine into a total nut - he was crying like crazy and seemed really disoriented and confused. Needless to say, Carmine got all of one dose of the medication and that was it for him. He takes cyproheptadine during his pancreatitis flares (along with his anti-nausea meds and pain meds) to help him eat. It has worked out well for him. You may want to ask your vet about trying it instead. Mirtazapine is the first choice, but many people find that cypro works better.
Happy 13th Gotcha Day to Angel and Chuck, and here's to many, many more!! <3
Happy belated Gotcha Day kitties! I bet you you have brought such joy into the lives of your humans! Cheers to you Angel & Chucky! BTW, Mom tried me on mirtazapine, too.
Valentine, I'm betting you didn't react well to that stuff either! Glad I didn't spend a fortune on the prescription, because it's going into the drawer. Thank you!
Oh, poor Chucky. I hate when medications have psychological side effects, and it's even worse when they don't work as well as you hoped. I'm glad he's feeling better.
Happy Gotcha Day kids!!
