Thank you all!

Thank you all for the kind Gotchaversary comments
for Manny and Chili Bruce!
💕💞💕

Instead of staying home and celebrating with them, however, my mother, sister, and I traveled to visit another sister (and I have one more...and two brothers...) in a far northern suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio.  My niece and two nephews visited for some family hilarity, and major chin wagging.

I'll post more about this mini-vacation later, but I HAD to show off this adorable statue that I found in a terrific shop in Lebanon, Ohio.

IT'S MANNY AND CHILI BRUCE!
Close up on the cat heads; one is licking the other!
Seriously, do you see why I couldn't pass it up?!?
My two housepanthers could have been the statue models!
So, it's a Happy Gotchaversary gift for ME!

Gotcha Day 14!

Angel, and some artwork from my Prisma app
I think it looks like a painting!
Fourteen years ago, Angel and her brofur Chuck were loaded into a cardboard box.  The Hubby drove, while I sat in the backseat with the box on my lap.  We humans were giddy with delight!

The Hubby was emotional enough to take a wrong turn, which made our drive home a bit longer, but we four made it, and our lives changed forever!  Although the loss of Chuck in November has been a bitter pill to swallow, our love for Angel continues to grow and blossom.  She is in good spirits, good health, and is convinced that the Sheer Fun toy is evil and she runs away from it!  However, she enjoys the felt toy that came with it, so go figure.

💕💖💕

Happy 14th Gotcha Day, Angel!

We love you so!

💖💕💖
Disclaimer: The Sheer Fun toy was purchased by me, for my cats, and we received no compensation from the company.  Da Boyz enjoy the heck out of the thing, but Angel hasn't quite figured it out yet!

Woofie Wednesday

Maverick has one ear up, Macey's ears are up or down

Maverick
My co-worker's new puppies are the CUTEST!  Even though I had her convinced that it was time for CATS, her husband went out and found these two babies instead.  I LURV German Shepherds, and am enjoying watched these two grow via photos.  Hope to meet them someday in purrson...er, um...pawson?

And thank you all for the well-wishes.  36 years is a really long time, but I'm not that old...must be some fuzzy math involved!  Chucky perked up again; he greeted me this morning, meowing for brekkie, and my heart truly leaped with the joy of it!  If we can keep him eating, then we can keep him here on Earth for that much longer.  No food interests him when he's in that stage; trust me, we've tried everything.  The Hubby says patience and love are the key, and I agree with him.

Happy 36th Gotcha Day!

Yesterday's sky
36 years ago, The Hubby and I went out on our first date, to a costume Halloween party.  We've been an item ever since!  I was dressed in my great-grandmother's long dress, velvet hat and elbow-length gloves.  He dressed as a plumber, with fake tattoos and a plunger hanging from loop in his overalls.

This year, our loving household is concerned for Chucky, so no dinner out or bowls of giggles.  Just quiet petting and heaps of love and warmth.

Love and warmth to you all, as the seasons change.

Angel and Chucky's 13th Gotcha Day!

Thirteen years ago, The Hubby and I drove out and came back with two kittens in a box!  The black and white kitten climbed the driver's seat and perched on The Hubby's shoulder, while the dark brown kitten stayed inside the box on my lap in the back seat.  We are first-time cat parents, and boy oh boy, have we learned a lot along the way!

In her favorite napping spot, perfectly furred to her liking!

Chuck

This is Chucky, a few days ago after he'd been given a dose of the appetite stimulant mirtazapine.  Only AFTER we'd given it to him, did I read that it can cause increased vocalization! It's really a form of speed! He kept on like this for almost two days; thankfully he's quieted down now, but we never really saw much of an increase in his appetite. We'll continue to work with yummy flavors and give him fresh food anytime he asks for it.

Gotcha Day Number 12!

Sweet Angelova!

Chucky, looking all mysterious
Angel and Chuck arrived at our house in a box on this day, in 2004.  The Hubby and I had little experience with cats, but we were under the assumption that they were 'easy care'.  Whether that is true or not, these two beings certainly changed our lives, and I wish that they decide to remain with us for many, MANY years to come!  Love you, Pinky and Brogums!

Happy Gotcha Day, Angel and Chuck!

As kittens, in 2004
Angel, today
Chucky, today

In 2004, The Hubby and I drove to pick up kittens.  We knew that my brother's co-worker's cat had a litter of four, and that we could pick two for ourselves, without an adoption fee.  All the equipment that we brought with us in that old Toyota Camry, was a cardboard box.  There were two all-black boys, and two 'cow-colored' girls.  We took one of each, and I sat in the back seat with the two kittens in the box on my lap while The Hubby drove home.  We even got lost, because he was too excited about the kittens to remember where to turn, and I was too excited to be paying attention.  Angel crawled from the box up the back of the driver's seat, and managed to get herself perched on his shoulder.  I held Chucky, noticing that even in his dark fur, there were crawly things.  Yes, they had fleas (gobs of fleas) and tapeworms too.  We bathed them in flea shampoo, and made an appointment for the veterinarian.  We had no idea what we were doing.

Now, 11 years later, they are such a huge part of our lives, and have sent me on a new journey; helping cats, especially ferals.  I constantly read books, read articles, search the internet (and ask a bazillion questions from the vet!), to try to do the right thing for our four-footed, fur-covered friends.

Happy Gotcha Day, Angel and Chuck!

10 Year Gotcha Day Anniversary for Angel and Chuck

Young Chuck
Baby Angel

Hard to believe that the hubby and I picked up two flea-bitten, wormy and scraggly kittens ten years ago today!  I rode in the backseat of our old Toyota Camry, with their box on my lap, while hubby got lost in his nervousness to get home quickly with our precious cargo.  After medication, baths, and a new world full of love and litter boxes, Angel and Chuck have grown into wonderful cats, brimming with personality and mischief.   They have changed our lives.

Happy Anniversary, little ones!

Wait...where are you?  Oh, napping of course!

Cats are just not sentimental.  They will, of course, enjoy the tuna treats!
