Twenty-Two

The Hubby and I became cat pawrents when we brought Angel and Chuck home on August 29, 2004.

What we didn't know about cats at that time would have filled The Encyclopaedia Britannica, but we loved 'em, and we've continued to honor their legacy by adopting both inside and outside cats over the years.

You could say that Celestial Angel and Chuck were our starter cats!

❤️ Love you both! ❤️

For Caturday, I artified one of the images above with Prisma, the Moonlight filter.

❤️ Twenty-One ❤️

August 29, 2004 was the day we brought littermates Angel and Chuck into our home.

Image from their 1st Gotachversary.

Angel, so easy to photograph due to her pink, white, and black coloring.

Chuck, originally named Chocolate because we thought his fur was dark brown.

What a pair!

Angel and Chuck led us on our first journey on the Cat Distribution System.

And look where we are now.

Sending kisses and belly snuggles to you two at The Rainbow Bridge; our starter cats.

Forever in our hearts.

20 Year Gotcha

August 29, 2004

The date that changed our world.

Angel and Chuck were home.
How can two decades have gone by?

Did they know they were our starter kitties?

Everything we learned about cats, we learned from Angel and Chuck.

Thank you, my babies!

Dual Gotchaversary: Chuck and Angel 8/29/04

Sweet babies; littermates Angel and Chuck taught us a vast amount about being owned by cats.

Neither The Hubby nor I had ever been in thrall to felines prior to 8/29/2004.
Kitten Angel, so named for my father who'd very recently passed.
She was a beauty, with delightfully soft fur.
Brown Baby Chuck, hence the name Chocolate, Chucky for short.
What a cat, despite years of health issues.
Just gazing upon these photos brings back so many memories, and of course, we have small shrines to both of them.

We'll always have cats in our lives now, especially housepanthers.

Happy Gotchaversary at The Rainbow Bridge, you two!

Thankful Thursday: 15th Gotchaversary!

Chuck and Angel arrived in a box together on 8/29/04.

Feisty little miss!
The Hubby had her at 'meow'
We celebrate that Angel and Chuck came into our lives 15 years ago!

Every. Single. Day.
The Hubby and I are so very thankful that Angel and Chuck entered our lives!
They may have been covered in fleas, and had worms, and were pretty much unsocialized,
yet through it all, they made us better humans.

Happy Gotcha Day to Angel on Earth, and Chucky in Heaven!

Happy Gotcha Day, Angel and Chuck!

As kittens, in 2004
Angel, today
Chucky, today

In 2004, The Hubby and I drove to pick up kittens.  We knew that my brother's co-worker's cat had a litter of four, and that we could pick two for ourselves, without an adoption fee.  All the equipment that we brought with us in that old Toyota Camry, was a cardboard box.  There were two all-black boys, and two 'cow-colored' girls.  We took one of each, and I sat in the back seat with the two kittens in the box on my lap while The Hubby drove home.  We even got lost, because he was too excited about the kittens to remember where to turn, and I was too excited to be paying attention.  Angel crawled from the box up the back of the driver's seat, and managed to get herself perched on his shoulder.  I held Chucky, noticing that even in his dark fur, there were crawly things.  Yes, they had fleas (gobs of fleas) and tapeworms too.  We bathed them in flea shampoo, and made an appointment for the veterinarian.  We had no idea what we were doing.

Now, 11 years later, they are such a huge part of our lives, and have sent me on a new journey; helping cats, especially ferals.  I constantly read books, read articles, search the internet (and ask a bazillion questions from the vet!), to try to do the right thing for our four-footed, fur-covered friends.

Happy Gotcha Day, Angel and Chuck!
