April 19 is National Cat Lady Day, celebrating the bond between women and felines, rebranding the 'cat lady' stereotype from negative to empowering.

Henry Update:

Friday, he's had a healthy appetite.

Except when it comes to churus; now, he's not very keen on them.

That's okay, as I'd rather he eat good canned cat food instead of those treats.

Monday morning is our vet visit.

Henry Update:

Paws crossed, the anti-nausea med has made a difference.

Friday morning, the full bowl of noms left overnight* was empty.

I put out his breakfast, and he ate it.

He ate the snack I put out (breakfast #2), then ate his dinner, and now licked up another snack.

Henry's become a gentle sweetie, tolerating a lot of handling with little collateral damage.

Keep on chowing down, dude, and we are all going to do a happy dance.

*We don't leave food out for any of the Eastside Cats normally, but rules were relaxed in an attempt to coax Henry to eat.

Thank you for the good wishes for my mother, and of course for Henry too!

Henry Update:

The vet's office decided he needed anti-nausea meds: Cerenia.

Turns out, the doxycycline antibiotic can be rough on a kitty's stomach.

A 1/4 of a tab every 24 hours, and I gave him some the minute I was back from the vet's.

Also made a nice slurry of churu goop and canned food, and syringe-fed Henry at dinner time.

Was over the moon Tuesday, as he was eating and asking for more.

Wednesday started strong, then fell flat in the evening.

Thursday, no b'fast eaten, and he wouldn't eat a churu either.

He also had, um...ejected material from both ends yesterday.

We love this guy like nobody's business.

C'mon, Henry The Ninth, or HIX; we're here for you!

Also, a thank you to the World that my mother reached her 94th birthday.

We had a party at the senior living complex where she lives now, and friends and family all had a grand time.

Mom even walked her friend around the place, selling the amenities!

Mom's old place should be scheduled for a closing any day; keys to be handed over, and that's it.

Henry Update:

All foods consumed on Tuesday.

The last 5 ml of doxycycline antibiotic administered.

Gabapentin was discontinued a few days ago, and he's as friendly and snuggly as ever.

He's not so slug-like, but not yet playing with toys.

Litter box habits are 👍🏻.

Henry is petitioning for more churus, but I fear he's going to NOT eat the 'good' food, to pander for the snacks.

Have tried frosting the wet food with the churu goop; sometimes he'll eat it, and sometimes he won't.

Any advice on this?

Wednesday update:

He didn't eat his dinner, and is ignoring breakfast.  *sigh*

Changes Without Change

It's Twozday!

 The other day, Manny and Chili Bruce just didn't want to give up a good napping spot.

I snapped pics every time I witnessed them in a new position, then made this quick video.

Henry Update:

Monday:

Henry ate his breakfast, plus the churus that I fed him.

The H Man ate his dinner, plus more churus.

He has a little more to go with the antibiotics, and the vet's office extended his appetite stimulant pills.

We appreciate the good vibes y'all have been sending!!!

It's PO'Monday!

Early April, 2013, The 'O' Cats were enjoying some sunshine:

Henry Update:

Was at a family gathering for a good chunk of Sunday, so when I'd returned home and found that Henry had eaten his morning's meal at some point, it felt great!

He's friendly and NOT being a lump on the bed, but subdued.

He licked up almost two churus from my hand, and I hope he'll nibble on the freshly plated canned food that The Hubby set out.

I write this on Sunday, and I'll call the vet's office on Monday, to discuss additional meds or ideas on helping Henry regain his scarfing mojo.

You've all given great information in comments: I'll discuss each with the vet.

Henry ate all of the food left for him overnight, and he's cleaned his b'fast bowl!

Henry Update:

I hope, hope, hope that I must edit this with better news before it posts.

He quit eating again, and I've tried every trick with smelly food, warm food, churus, and even doubled up his appetite stimulant.

He just drank from his water bowl, so we've got that going for us.

A few more purrs would be a great help, thanks.

Henry Update:

He's holding his own.

On Tuesday, he was at 1 on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest.

Friday, I'd rate him at 6.5, but the force is strong in Henry!

Cannot imagine how I'd handle this if I was working full-time still, and you know what?

My old team has been called back into the office, rather than working remotely.

Glad to be off of that merry-go-round, but it's fun to meet up for lunch with my former co-workers to catch up once in awhile.

Henry Update:

Henry had an experience on Thursday: the bed sheets needed laundering, and he's been stuck to the bed like a burr.

He looked as if I was trying to grab him for a ride in the carrier, but we slid the sheets out from under him carefully.

He's eating better, yet his energy is low.

Perhaps a few more good meals will spark him into jumping on counters or playing with his spring toys again.

So appreciate all of the love and purrs that y'all have sent!

Thank you all for your concern for Henry.

Wednesday morning, he'd eaten all...ALL...of the food that I'd left for him.

I put out fresh, smelly stuff.

He ate that, plus his dinner, and now a little bit extra that I snuck past Da Boyz.

Our primary goal is that he gets food in his tummy, and we hope the current habit stays strong even after we tail back on the meds.

And do I adore having him curl up next to me at night?

YES!

As of Tuesday evening: nibbles of food eaten.

Am heading in with churus next.

I believe the resumption of the appetite stimulant is key.

He's neatly sequestered, so no more hiding under dressers, bathtubs, etc.

Henry is stubborn, and so am I!

 Well now.

Henry had stopped eating again.

And he lay around like a 10-pound slug.

Monday, I took him to see his regular veterinarian.

The doc resumed his appetite stimulant, changed to a different eye med, and added doxycycline (antibiotic) to the rotation.

The top photo below shows how his inner eyelid is acting strange, and that should have improved.

He was given a B12 shot and subcutaneous liquids. 

However, I took to photo to show off his curly eyebrow whisker!

Henry WAS feeling better, hence him watching birds from the bathroom window, which I viewed from the bedroom window.

Yes, the temps were warm enough...for ONE DAY...to open the windows!

Also, I am to find a baby nebulizer to use on Henry, to loosen up any congestion.

As of this moment, he's hiding under the dresser, so we'll just let him simmer down before this new onslaught of meds.

Rest easy, little one.

A good nap and some chow will go a long way to making things feel alright.

Oh wait, that goes for me too!
