Strike A Pose

August 19 is World Photography Day.

A few sillies in honor of the day:

"Smile for the birdy!"

On purpose!

For Henry, I'd have to attach a churu lickable tube.

See what happens when you think you're a photographer, making a good shot! 😹

August 12, 2026 Partial Solar Eclipse, image snapped while in my backyard.
We had 3% coverage here, and the clouds just kept blowing past.
It was fun to watch, even it appeared to only be a tiny nibble.
Included today because it's a photo without a cat...hahaha!

Manfred

It's Twozday, and we'll focus on Manny.

Manny is on his back legs, chasing something.

Manny's nicknames:

The Man
Brows (we say this one quietly)
Mans
Manfred

Things you may not know about Manny:

-The Hubby likes to carry Manny like a baby.

-Manny often usurps The Hubby's kitchen chair.

-Manny rarely eats a meal in one go; he'll walk away from a 2/3rds eaten bowl, which we remove so Chili Bruce doesn't play clean-up.  After a while, Mans begs for the rest, and we make sure he can eat in peace without CB trying to get at it.

-Manny will chew on anything green, and he especially loves fresh basil nabbed from the plant.

-In summer, a favorite napping location for Manny is on a box tucked into the corner of the bathroom.

-If I have a fleece blanket on my lap, Manny would make biscuits or knead from dawn 'til dusk, but I shoo him away after 10 or 15 minutes.

Fade to Black

In addition, we begin Cat Nights!

Truly, this time of year is when we all realize that summer won't last forever, so get out there and enjoy, before the harvests are done, and we begin to buckle down to face the next, harsher seasons.

Homeless to Loved

The third Sunday in August is International Homeless Animals' Day.

"This worldwide effort is aimed at halting the euthanasia and suffering of unwanted companion animals."

❤️

A few thoughts, and I know that I'm talking to like-minded folks:

-If you feed them, fix them.

-If you adopt, be aware that you are making a multi-year commitment, which includes food, shelter, and veterinary services.

-There is no pressure on anyone to have pets; if your lifestyle doesn't support the care that a pet needs, then visit a cat cafe' or rescue once in awhile.

-Roll up your sleeves and volunteer.

-Donate!

-We cannot adopt our way out of the overpopulation.

-Puppy and kitten mills must be eliminated.

We sadly bid farewell to Seal from Brian's Home Blog.

Those gorgeous eyes, and her lovely fur colors will live furever in my heart.

Poor Simon, as Seal was his sisfur.

Hugs and purrs.

Thinking of Jackie

August 15 was Jackie Avery's birthday, until she earned her angels wings earlier this year.

Her blog about Eric and Flynn was terrific, and all three are sorely missed.

Purrs for Ivor.

Therefore, for Caturday, I swiped an image from March, 2009 of those two container-loving gingers, artified it on Prisma, Star filter.

Click on the image to enjoy a jigsaw puzzle.

Wild Times in Henryville

It's high time we had a Formerly Feral Friday, starring Henry The Ninth.

Yes, that's ME he's draped across!
What can I say; I'm squishy enough to be a terrific human cat bed.

Again, he's sitting on my torso, but I cropped myself out.

Foo foo in the air, like he just don't care!
His belly fur has grown in nicely.

Henry has been doing well, until I mentioned to the vet that he's still got loose poop.

Dr. Vani suggested a liver support med, since his last tests showed he needed help there.

The trick is that this new med made him NOT EAT!

Henry not eating is what got us here, so we stopped that med.

Will walk through everything when we attend Monday's vet appointment.

AND...

The food that Henry was eating up nicely is now NO LONGER AVAILABLE where I've been purchasing it.

We picked up what I thought was a good replacement, and have mixed a bit into the last packages of his 'old' food, but he doesn't seem to like it.

Damn and drat!

It's possible to purchase the food online, in a different package size, and for twice the cost, and we may have to go this route.

Despite all of this song-and-dance, Henry is being cute, snuggly, and has chomped through another catnip ball.

If I felt that anything we've done severely lowers Henry's quality of life, I'd modify or stop it.

While he doesn't enjoy getting his pills twice a day, he's used to it now, and I get it done quickly, with copious amount of smooches.

List of Henry's medicines:
Proviable Fiber Supplement: 1/8 teaspoon twice a day.
Proviable Forte capsule: one a day
Amoxicillin antibiotic: twice a day
Metronidazole antibiotic: twice a day
Denamarin Advanced Liver support capsule: one a day (on hold)
Mirtazapine appetite stimulant: one a day
Cerenia anti-nausea: one a day
Prednisolone steroid: one a day
Cobalequin B12 capsule: one a day
Chemo: every two weeks, five capsules remain

The two antibiotics for his liver run out tomorrow: "use until gone".

Monday's blood tests should give us some answers.

Feral to spoiled, and we love The H Man ❤️

We Are All Just Shaking Our Heads, Right?

It's been a wacky time!

A few items from me to you, hoping that you smile.

Our deepest thanks to all who commented on this past Monday's post: Celestial Pommy.

The five year reminder was especially difficult.

We all know that grief follows its own path, unique to each of us, and one treads it alone.

Looking Around

🤳🏻 Walkin' and Readin' Wednesday.

In the neighborhood:

Gray cat on Smith Street.

Birds enjoying a meal.

President Truman watching me from a TARDIS-shaped Little Free Library.

My Sly, waits for me to give him some love.

📚 Recommended audiobooks:

It Could Have Been Her, by Lisa Jewell
Narrated by ensemble cast
Released June 23, 2026

Goodreads blurb: "Lisa Jewell brings the suspense to this shocking new thriller about a lost dog, a missing woman, and a house of long buried secrets."

My thoughts: A very twisty mystery, as an amateur sleuth revises a scary event in her life.

Gave it four stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Read the trigger warnings!

The Unicorn Hunters by Katherine Arden
Narrated by Fiona Hardingham
Released June 2, 2026

Goodreads blurb: "In a desperate gamble to save her throne, a young monarch conceals a secret marriage in the shadows of an enchanted forest—and unknowingly alters the fate of her world."

My thoughts: A romantic tale for Anne of Brittany, January 1477 - January 1514 (aged 36), who was betrothed multiple times, and married to two Kings of France, having eleven pregnancies but only two surviving children, the author decided that Anne needed a true love, with unicorns!

Gave it four stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A Trade of Blood, Ana and Din Mysteries #3 by Robert Jackson Bennett
Narrated by Andrew Fallaize
Released August 4, 2026

Amazon blurb: "The heir to one of the Empire’s most powerful families sits in jail, accused of murder. His hands are covered in the victim’s blood, and he can neither deny his guilt nor explain his actions.

But if the great detective Ana Dolabra cannot save him from the noose, the farming canton of Sapirdad will explode into war, threatening to plunge the whole Empire into starvation and chaos.

As Ana investigates—her assistant Dinios Kol, as ever, acting as her eyes and ears—she fears her task is even more daunting than it seemed. For this murder is just the latest in a deeper, subtler web of death, woven by a mastermind with an ancient weapon at his disposal."

My thoughts: This is a terrific sci-fi detective tale, and it's the third one in the series.

Such a fascinating series; I've given each book 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book #1: The Tainted Cup
Book #2: A Drop of Corruption

Cats On Film

Find out if Cat Video Fest 2026 is showing near you at Cat Video Fest.

Enjoyed this film on Sunday, August 9 at the Detroit Film Theater.

Snapped a few images:

The place was packed to the rafters, and we laughed, ooh'd and aah'd, along with a few awws, and more.

Cat Lovers Unite!

I wore my black cat ears, cat earrings, cat t-shirt, and of course, my cat tats.

Had fun chatting up other patrons who roamed the museum prior to watching the film.

Cat rescues benefit from every showing of Cat Video Fest.

Celestial Pommy

It's PO'Monday.

On August 7, 2021, Earth was deprived of a spectacularly goofy cat.

Celestial Paddy O'Malley, image from March 21, 2020.

May 20, 2012.

June 18, 2016.

As soon as I was able to, after Paddy's passing and the multiple Covid lockdowns while working remotely, I honored The PO'M in a way that helped heal my broken heart.

Inked on December 10, 2022, on my right arm.

Yes, I have thousands of pictures of Paddy, yet glimpsing him as art on my body softened my sharp grief, and even after five years, he's attached to my soul.

He was my ❤️ cat.

📚 ❤️ 📚 ❤️ 📚

"Book Lovers Day is celebrated on 9 August every year.

This is an unofficial holiday observed to encourage bibliophiles to celebrate reading and literature.

People are advised to put away their smartphones and every possible technological distraction and pick up a book to read.

Book Lovers Day is widely recognized on global scale yet its origin and creator remain unknown to date."

Just learned that Katie Isabella earned her angels wings.
