Rolling

 A quick video of some of the neighborhood cats and stuff that I noticed on my walks.

We have some talented sidewalk chalk artists!

The purple plants covered in bees is Giant Purple Hyssop.

The cat shown after the black cat is King Sly; he's very thin, but his meowmy tells me he's eating, jumping up on the bed, and continues to patrol his territory.

That's a full moon image, and a view out the back at the wildfire smoke we had for awhile.

I left out all of the bunny rabbit pics, and I've not collected any coins found on the sidewalk, since the handful of pennies from a month ago.

Friendships & Paperback Books

July 30 is International Friendship Day, and we are so very thankful for our International group of blogging friends!

❤️ ❤️ ❤️

In addition, due to posting our blog on social media, there are friends from all over the globe with whom I have close relationships.

Am so happy to know you all, and am grateful for each of you.

❤️ ❤️ ❤️

July 30 is also Paperback Book Day.

My childhood was sprinkled with paperback books; most of them where leftovers from my family.

Here are a few that stand out:
Ray Bradbury's The Illustrated Man
My father loved sci-fi, so his paperback collection of sci-fi was a terrific source of reading material.
This book is a collection of short stories, and every one is imprinted on my brain.

Bertrand R. Brinley's The Mad Scientists' Club
I still have this totally beat-up book, which I believe first belonged to my brother.
Six junior genius members of the Mad Scientists' Club investigate a sea monster, the theft of a valuable dinosaur egg, a hot-air balloon race, search for stolen money from an old bank robbery, and more!

Charles M. Schultz's "What Next, Charlie Brown?"
Yep, we bought Charlie Brown comics in paperback, and we had many of them.
The TV programs came along after the books, and we loved them all.

Later, I collected my own paperbacks: Dark Shadows TV show, John Jakes' multiple series, and...don't laugh...Barbara Cartland romances.

📚📚📚

So, grab a paperback book today, and enjoy!

Save The Stripes

"Tigers (Panthera tigris) and domestic house cats (Felis catus) share roughly 95.6% of their DNA."

July 27 is World Tiger Day, established to bring public awareness to the severe decline in wild tiger populations.

The 2026 Theme: Securing the future of tigers with indigenous peoples and local communities at the heart.

Learn more at WWF Global Tiger Day page.

Disclaimer:
I searched online for copyright free tiger images, and found these.
Using them for entertainment purposes only, not to sell anything, just showing our love for our endangered world wildlife.

Below are images of Celestial Paddy O'Malley, probably the closest to a wild tiger that we'll ever get!
Oh yeah, he was scary in his ferociousness!

😹 😹 😹

Be nice to tigers!

Melt 🥵

It's Twozday, but we've got a cat three-pack.

It's warm here, with high humidity, yet we haven't turned on the air conditioning.

The cats are surviving thusly:

The Pipes

July 27 is Bagpipe Appreciation Day!

"No one knows for certain where the history of the Bagpipe began.

It is thought that the first Pipe came from ancient Egypt, which had just a single drone and a chanter.

From here it eventually evolved in Europe, with the Greeks and the Romans having the earliest written references."

In Gray

Now that all of my siblings are retired, and Mom is in assisted living, we tend to gather at least once a month for various reasons.

Long ago, we scoffed at the old saw about the elderly always talking about their ailments.

Well, over a couple of meals last week, we discussed feet, heart, mammography, hearing, and the ability to recall items from the past...and, of course, 'kids these days!'

So, a few silly memes to share the truth of the matter; we're ancient.

Yep, we've gone and done it!

I've forbidden the 'o' word at Eastside Cats, preferring 'aged' or 'seasoned'.

After all, The Hubby has more years on him than I.

Nothing is Sacred

American Realist painter Edward Hopper was born on June 22, 1882, a birthday that I'd missed by a day.

"His work demonstrates that realism is not merely a literal or photographic copying of what we see, but an interpretive rendering."

Nighthawks, 1942
Edward Hopper (American, 1882–1967)
The Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois

This painting is amazing when you stand in front of it, or any Hopper creation.

There is a stark flatness; one sees and feels the unhappily alone human spirit.

Ah, but thanks to the wonders of social media, this iconic masterpiece is a springboard for the comedic!

As an art historian, art buff, and museum nerd, I have no qualms about poking fun at great paintings, famous people, or cats.

Laws for Animals

Animal Law Day is observed globally on July 22 in commemoration of the UK's 1822 Martin's Act (the first animal protection legislation).

In Michigan, I follow Attorneys for Animals as they work with politicians and the legal system to do what is right for animals and their caregivers.

I support anyone who steps up to be the voice of the voiceless, protect their rights as living beings.

Buttoned Up

It's Twozday!

We've kept a low profile during the recent wildfire smoke events, by staying sealed up at home with the window air conditioners running, and additional box fans and air cleaners doing their jobs.

Da Boyz weren't able to enjoy window whiffies, so they added extra time on to their napping schedules, just like the soccer games get those extra minutes tacked on.

Chili Bruce, in the Pink Blue Chair, under The Pink, and the blue is getting very washed out.

One will always find Manny near a plant.

When the humans were beginning to get cabin fever, and the a/c was making things rather cold, Da Boyz decided to gang up and take over my legs as I sat in My Chair.

Neither look really pleased with the situation, however, but this here human was purring with delight!

Mooning

 July 20, 1969, as far as we know, is the date that the first humans/Earthers stepped on the Moon.

Hate to admit to it, folks, but I watched it live (or was it?) on television, with the rest of my family.

I was a kid, and have always be fascinated by space, our planets, the Sun, and distant mysteries.

As a cat enthusiast, I am sure that cats originated from outer space.

In honor of this impawtant date, please enjoy a few sillies collected from social media:

HB Chuck & Angel!

July 18, 2004 was the birthday of Celestial Chuck and Angel!

Their mama had four kittens; we adopted two.

I've called them twins, which isn't exact, but what the hey, right?

For Caturday, we've artified one of our favorite images of Chuck and Angel in Lunapic, K3 art effect.

Click on the image to enjoy a jigsaw puzzle.

❤️Happy Heavenly Birthday Angel and Chuck, and we miss you.❤️

Celebrate The Ink

July 17 is National Tattoo Day!

How 'bout a few sillies to celebrate?

My next tattoo appointment is August 21.

~~~
Hugs and purrs to all those being hit by uncontrollable weather issues: heat, rain and floods, smoke.
Take care, my friends.
Fang You Verra Much
Henry Health Update:
The veterinarian was pleased that Henry had gained a full pound!
She said that means his guts are absorbing nutrients.
We talked through all of his medicines, and are reducing the steroid dose, and adding a second antibiotic as his liver values were off.
ALT and AST are elevated.
These elevations could be the result of the steroid, so less may just be the ticket.
A follow-up visit in a month to make sure these tweaks are keeping him on track.
I can stop his daily appetite stimulant and anti-nausea meds, to use as needed.
He's eating, drinking water, and using the litter box.
Former feral, now lazy Henry!
Henry chewed apart three new catnip toys; this image only shows two, and the resulting piles of catnip.
Henry says, "Fear my teefs!"
The H Man has had three of the prescribed ten chemo treatments.
We are thankful that he's come this far from those 'won't eat, emergency vet' days.
