¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

"Cinco de Mayo, a holiday celebrated on May 5 in parts of Mexico and the United States in honor of a military victory over the French forces of Napoleon III in 1862, known as the Battle of Puebla."

Read more here.

I broke out the Cat Hats box, and found the sombrero.

Tried Henry first; he wasn't in the mood.
He looks absolutely fiendish!
Henry: "Bring that closer, and I'll cut you!"

Next up: Chili Bruce.
Wriggle, wriggle, wriggle...no chance of it sitting on his head long enough for a pic.
CB: "Not this again!"

I said, "Manny, make me proud!"
Manny: "I'm outta here!", and I followed him as he tried to distance himself.
In the end, he wore the sombrero for long enough to get some terrific images; doesn't he look like he was having fun?  So handsome!

Promise, no cats or humans were injured in the making of this photo shoot.

Happy Cinco de Mayo & National Astronaut Day!

May 5 is National Astronaut Day, in honor of the first American space flight by Alan Shepard on May 5, 1961.

Cinco De Mayo is a celebration of Mexico culture and heritage, mostly here in the US.

Astro-Cinco

National Astronaut Day is an American commemorative day held on 5 May since 2017, commemorating the first United States human spaceflight, on 5 May, 1961, piloted by astronaut Alan Shepard.
😹😹😹

5 May is also known for taco and tequila consumption for Cinco de Mayo.

Sweetie, in her sombrero.
More popular in the United States than in Mexico, Cinco de Mayo is mostly associated with the celebration of Mexican-American culture, hence to reference to tacos and tequila.

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo, (Spanish: “Fifth of May”) also called the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, is a holiday celebrated in parts of Mexico and the United States, in honour of a military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III.

In the United States, Cinco de Mayo is widely interpreted as a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with substantial Mexican-American populations.

Chicano activists raised awareness of the holiday in the 1960s, in part because they identified with the victory of Indigenous Mexicans (such as Juárez) over European invaders during the Battle of Puebla.

Today, revelers mark the occasion with parades, parties, mariachi music, Mexican folk dancing, and traditional foods such as tacos and mole poblano. Some of the largest festivals are held in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston.

Thankful for my sis, for the loan of the mini-sombreros, used in honor of the holiday.

Also thank you to The Hubby, who, in smiley silence, assisted with cat wrangling, car key jangles, and plenty of pats and pets to all kitty models for today's pics.

Although a peaceable sort, and do NOT condone war now or ever, I just needed a reason to put hats/sombreros on the cats.
