Social Watch

 June 30 is Social Media Day AND Meteor Watch Day.

Where did I get this cool chart?

You've guessed it: from social media!

😹😹😹

Have been a meteor shower watcher since forever.

Have fond memories of laying in the backyard, wrapped in a sleeping bag, looking up!

The Hubby went with me on a few adventures, but he hates mosquitoes...and being cold...and being up late, so I run solo when the heavens put on a show.

6/29 to 7/23: Woo Woo

What Is Mercury in Retrograde?

"In astrology, Mercury governs communication, technology, travel, and intellectual processes. When Mercury is in retrograde, it appears to move backward in its orbit when observed from Earth. Of course, it’s not actually reversing; it’s an optical illusion caused by the relative positions of Mercury and Earth in their orbits around the Sun.

Astrologers interpret this phenomenon as a time when Mercury's influence is "reversed," leading to disruptions in the areas it rules: communication, technology, travel, and intellectual processes. Mercury retrograde happens about three to four times a year, lasting approximately three weeks each time."

And now, for some funnies, with adult language:

Why not blame all the craziness on the planets, right?

😹😹😹

And, to add to the craziness, the Full Strawberry Moon is Monday, June 29, 2026, at 7:57 p.m. EDT.
12:57 a.m. BST (British Summer Time) on June 30, 2026.

Cannot Choose

A conundrum for Caturday: unable to make up my mind on which image to choose.

So, enjoy both!

Slumber On

Incredible amounts of activity at Eastside Cats!

Managed to capture some of the chaos:

Ah-HA!
Trick image; which one is which?

Usually, CB shows up with brown fur, while Manny stays black.

This time; I cannot decide which is which.

The Hubby looked it over, and said "The black one is Manny, and the other black one is Chili Bruce."

Thanks so much, dear; dontcha have some sporting event on TV to watch?

*eyeroll*

Hey, Henry...that's my side of the bed!

Alright, it's NOT very active around here, other than the city workers who dug a huge hole in the road at the end of the street.

Machinery moving and beeping, drilling noise, scooping up rubble to toss into dump trucks, and the frustrated drivers who couldn't get through.

So, I sat on the front step, drinking tea, to watch other people do stuff, as it's pretty quiet here.

*knocking wood*

Lonely Hearts

June 25 is World Beatles Day!

This band was an integral part of my youth; the music, the albums, their movies.

I even saw Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band film in 1978 SEVERAL TIMES at the theater; it starred The Bee Gees, Peter Frampton, Earth, Wind & Fire, Aerosmith, and handfuls of other music stars, but had really nothing to do with The Beatles themselves.

FYI, the film was not well received, except by teenagers like me.

😹😹😹

Some meme's for your Beatles amusement today:

DO'H!

A "Young Frankenstein" joke.

😹

My siblings and I made up dances to go with every song on the Sgt. Pepper's album, and I am thankful for the fond memories.

~~~
Henry Update:
On Tuesday, June 23,  Henry's second chemo pill was administered.
No outward changes in any of his habits, for which I am grateful.
Other than a couple of seriously stinky litter box events.
🙀
Next chemo pill: July 7.
Next vet visit: July 10.
Pennies From Heaven
Walkin' and Readin' Wednesday
Recent snaps taken while out in my neighborhood:
This kitty was not inclined to visit with me.
Picked up 37 U.S. pennies on the sidewalk and road; someone tossed them out a car window, I'm thinking.
Mom and Pop cardinals, on the wires.
Recent audiobooks:
The English Masterpiece: A Novel
Author: Katherine Reay
Narrator: Fiona Hardingham
Published: June 10, 2025
Goodreads blurb: Set in the art world of 1970s London, The English Masterpiece is a fast-paced read to the end, full of glamour and secrets, tensions and lies, as one young woman races against the clock to uncover the truth about a Picasso masterpiece.
Love me a good art mystery, and this one was extra fun.
Love's Academic Series Book #3
The Antiquarian’s Object of Desire: A Cosy Romantasy of Magical Disasters and Reluctant Hearts
Author: India Holton
Narrator: Elizabeth Knowelden
Published: April 21, 2026
Goodreads blurb: When two history professors and best friends are forced to fake hate to protect their reputations, chaos ensues, in the next rollicking historical-fantasy rom-com from beloved author India Holton.
Well, for some reason, I missed that this was a series, and simply jumped in.  Happy to be in the deep-end of the pool with magical items, intrigue, and playful dialogue, and have Books #1 & #2 queued to listen to.
The Book Series
Book #1: The Plot, narrated by Kirby Heyborne
Published: May 11, 2021
Book #2: The Sequel, narrated by Julia Whelan
Author: Jean Hanff Korelitz
Published: October 1, 2024
Goodreads blurb: Book #1: A psychologically suspenseful novel about a story too good not to steal, and the writer who steals it.
Book #2: An antihero to root for while illuminating and satirizing the world of publishing in this deliciously fun and suspenseful read.
One of the most unique and tantalizing plotlines that I've encountered, and simply discovered it because it's a book about books.  Love being swept along to places I wasn't anticipating, and there is a lot of that in these two books.
All Dolled Up
New Orleans, Louisiana: June 23, is St. John's Eve, celebrated on the bayou to honor the summer solstice and is a voodoo holiday.
Learn more by clicking here, for an article from Smithsonian Magazine.
Begging the pardon of folks who practice voodoo or vodou, I've found a few voodoo doll memes for today:
Just for fun, folks!
Thickset
It's PO'Monday!
Look at these images from June, 2015.
Celestial Paddy O'Malley was still carrying his winter weight.
😹 😹 😹
"Whale on the beach!!!"
He was goofy, a showoff, and he's missed so very much.
Dad Day in the Sun
Angel Indigo earned her angels wings; please consider leaving a note of condolence at I Have Three Cats.
😿
Today is Father's Day (3rd Sunday in June) here in The States.
Happy Fathers Day to all with human and/or furry, finned, or feathered offspring!
Yay, Dads!
"The 2026 summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere occurs on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 08:24 UTC (4:24 a.m. EDT).
It is the longest day of the year, marking the astronomical start of summer, when the sun reaches its highest, northernmost point in the sky."
Oops, I have no idea where I copied the above information from.
Paw-in-Claw
June 19, 2026 is the start of the traditional Chinese holiday, The Dragon Boat Festival.
Activities include praying for good luck, eating rice dumplings, and taking respite from the summer heat with dragon boat races.
To me, dragons and cats go paw-in-claw, and I'm not the only one; here are a few pieces of art found on social media:
This means that summer is just days away!
YAY!
🌞🏖🌅
Happy Dragon Boat Festival, all.
If you'd like to enjoy actual Dragon Boat Racing, simply search for 'dragon boat racing near me' and you'll find events all summer long.
Alarming
 June 18 is International Panic Day, a mock holiday designed to draw attention to mental health issues.
It encourages individuals to acknowledge their anxieties and fears, fostering open conversations about well-being.
Take a moment to reflect, seek support, and prioritize your mental health.
And a few laughs will help!
For your entertainment, items found on social media:
I, for one, enjoy finding the silliest things on social media, and love to share.
At a recent family get-together, I used my phone to display memes and jokes, proving to the other retirees present that I'm working hard while not working!
Keep 'em coming, folks, and thank you as I steal your work for our amusement.
Hahahahaha!
