Aww, Nuts!

October 22 is International Nut Day!

"A day to support small nut farmers around the world, educate consumers about the many benefits of nuts, and encourage healthier snacking."

When I searched my library for nut images, here's what was found:

đŸ˜č
Exactly!

Especially humorous for someone who worked in the automotive fastener business.

Pecan nut on the floor, being used as a cat toy.

The Hubby and I have chopped walnuts with our morning oatmeal, and I personally cannot pass up a chance to snack on cashews.

We also keep a supply of raw almond butter around.

Over the winter holidays, we manage to score a bag or two of roasted pistachios.

Eastside Cats is a nut patron, and is thankful for them.

Under Siege

October 15 is Medieval Siege Engine Day!

No harm in an onager or catapult between friends from time to time, amIright?

All of the cool kids have medieval siege engines, like Colehaus Cats:

I, for one, am thankful for goofy holidays, because...why not?

A New Art Theft in France

"A bronze book jacket designed by famed Surrealist Salvador DalĂ and weighing 330 pounds was swiped from a small private museum in Issoire, France, in an overnight theft this past weekend, Le Monde reports. Encrusted with precious stones, seashells, and cutlery, the cover is believed to have been taken between October 4 and October 5.

The jacket housed the pages of the Livre de l’Apocalypse, also known as the Book of Revelation or the Apocalypse of St. John, and was part of a 1958–61 collaboration between DalĂ and thirteen other artists and writers commissioned by French publisher Joseph ForĂȘt. Among the contributors to the volume were Bernard Buffet, Jean Cocteau, Leonor Fini, LĂ©onard Foujita, Jean Giono, and Ossip Zadkine."

Am so very thankful to have seen with my own eyes several original DalĂ pieces...not the stolen one, however...and while his surrealist art takes some getting used to, the viewer knows that the techniques and skill are amazing.

Rescued

 September 24, 2026 is Remember Me Thursday, celebrated on the 4th Thursday in September annually.

Learn more here: Remember Me Thursday.

🕯️ Shine a light on orphan pets waiting for forever homes

Our favorite breed is RESCUED.

Please don't shop; adopt.

❤️ ❤️ ❤️

We are thankful for every cat who has lived at Eastside Cats; each one was a rescue.

Chuck and Angel were rescued from someone who didn't spay their cat.

Hobo, Sammy, Sweetie, Paddy O'Malley, and Henry were backyard cats.

George was dumped at my place of business, and dear friends helped feed him, trap him, and find a home for him.

Manny and Chili Bruce were adopted from The Michigan Humane, and I found them at Premier Pet Supply in Beverly Hills, Michigan.

~~~
Thanks so much for the kindness for our 13th Blogoversary; you all rock!
Am NOT Ready
September brings a mixed bag of emotions:
And still humid as heck.
Very zen of you.
Exactly how I'm feeling!
Nope, not ready to give up my summertime.
Am thankful for the recent warm days that we've been experiencing in the Midwest.
Wins
A few recent wins that I am thankful for:
The Hubby and I walked to the farmer's market, and I was treated to the largest hot Earl Grey tea they have at a local coffee shop: The Black Cat.  The Hubby had cataract surgery on his left eye last week, and the right eye will be next week, and he's doing fabulously enough to walk with me.
My 'hood friend Sly is thin under that fur, yet he still greets me whenever I come near.
I have new ink, and have two completed sleeves.  The watermelon slice and Sherlock Holmes are easy to understand.  The diamond shapes are an adaptation of Irish neolithic petroglyph designs.
After searching for a year, I found a new mug that holds 14 oz. of hot beverage, has a handle that fits my hand, and keeps the drink warm longer that other mugs.
Henry makes me happy, as he's gotten comfortable with his inside existence.
Chili Bruce enjoys summer sunpuddles, while stretched out on the Pink Blue chair on the south side of the house.
Manny hides his face, as he spills out of his beddy, on the north side of the house.
❤️❤️❤️
Going Bananas
August 27 is Banana Lovers Day, and I am thankful for the yellow tropical berry that's sold as fruit!
We eat bananas almost every day.
A few sillies for your amusement:
WANT!
Betcha I could get Henry to wear it.
Of course I found a Bananahenge!
Found this homage to Comedian (banana taped to a wall) by Maurizio Cattelan in Detroit, Michigan.
A statement about how the average person perceives the 'important news' that is publicized.
My breakfast while visiting Bath, England a few years ago.
Banana and oatmeal, with other yummy vegan stuff.
I believe at least one of my travelling companions had a full English, while I had to have my banana!
We Are All Just Shaking Our Heads, Right?
It's been a wacky time!
A few items from me to you, hoping that you smile.
Our deepest thanks to all who commented on this past Monday's post: Celestial Pommy.
The five year reminder was especially difficult.
We all know that grief follows its own path, unique to each of us, and one treads it alone.
