Remember Me Thursday #RememberMeThursday #SeeTheLight
DID YOU KNOW?
Over 1 Million pets are euthanized annually. That number has consistently decreased in the last decade.
It is proven that the more awareness we bring to orphan pets results in: 1) Adoptions Increasing, 2) Euthanasia Decreasing, and 3) Puppy Mill Sales Decreasing.
Visit Remember Me Thursday to discover events held today in your area!
Shining a light on shelter animals, who are still looking for their furrever homes.
Our stories:
Every cat at Eastside Cats was adopted!
Adopted from a home with too many kittens (Celestial Angel and Chuck), from the street and alley (Hobo, Sweetie, Sammy, and Paddy O'Malley), and from a shelter (Manny and Chili Bruce).
Having volunteered at cat adoption events, I know that not everyone is ready to invite a cat into their home, but that isn't the only way to help shelter kitties!
-Volunteer at a local shelter or humane society.
-Discuss the horrors of puppy and kitten mills with folks you know; you'd be surprised at how little information is in the general public.
-For those of us with TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) experience, reaching out to assist folks who need help with ferals or strays, could be a life-changing experience for the cats and those who don't know what to do.

On September 27, 2018, the entire world will share the importance of pet adoption, and shine a light on all orphan pets waiting in shelters and rescues. In 2017, people using #RememberMeThursday reached nearly 330 million people on social media.
As for Eastside Cats, Angel and Chuck were adopted as young kittens from a family who didn't spay their cat. Manny and Chili Bruce were adopted as older kittens at a pet store that showcases cats from the Michigan Humane Society. Hobo, Sammy, Paddy O'Malley, and Sweetie simply showed up in the yard, so we 'adopted' them too!
The Hubby claims that he was the first stray that I took in, but he's being silly.

Remember Me Thursday: September 28, 2017
On September 28, 2017, the entire world will share the importance of pet adoption and shine a light on all orphan pets waiting in shelters and rescues. In 2016, people using #RememberTheRescue and #RememberMeThursday reached nearly 340 million people on social media.
Can we get even more people sharing the importance of pet adoption in 2017?

Mike Arms, on why he created Remember Me Thursday, “My heart breaks for those beautiful people working in animal welfare who are forced to take the lives of the pets they love. I believe lighting a candle for the orphan pets will be a way for people to let the world know how much they love them, and the awareness can help in increasing adoptions and decreasing euthanasia.”
Angel and Chuck came to us via informal adoption, meaning we removed them from the home where their mother was unspayed and had had multiple litters of unwanted kittens. Our kittens were spayed and neutered just as soon as they were old enough. And since then, I have become active with TNR, as a result of stray cats appearing in our backyard, and in my office parking lot.
