Turkey!

The Hubby found a frozen turkey on sale: he defrosted and cooked it, ground up the meat, and stowed it away for cat food.

Manny and Chili Bruce have been through this routine before, and they simply LOSE THEIR MINDS when that aroma hits their snoots.

Below is Chili Bruce, sighing with impatience, pretending to be weak with hunger, while watching carefully from the fridge top.

Henry Update:

Giving Henry his fiber powder via pill rather than in his food is working so far.

He is still on both appetite stimulant and anti-nausea meds, and is eating smaller amounts multiple times a day.

A Rare Sighting!

Whoops, April 25, yesterday, was Independent Bookstore Day.

Am a reader of books and ebooks, plus a listener of audiobooks.

I cannot pass up a bookstore, and enjoy used bookstores the most, or any bookstore that has a resident cat!

📚 📚 📚

Today is National Pet Parent Day, celebrated on the last Sunday in April.

The Hubby, dedicated pet parent, snuggling with Chili Bruce; an ussie for Sunday Selfies Blog Hop.

Shhh...don't tell him that I'd posted this, since he prefers to stay behind the scenes.

~~~
Henry Update:
Beginning tomorrow, we add B12 pills to Henry's med rotation.
He'd received a shot at last Monday's vet visit, so now it's time to keep that good stuff going.
Dr. Google says:
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is essential for cats to support digestion, immune system function, cognitive health, and red blood cell formation. It is vital for metabolic processes, including DNA synthesis and energy production. Because cats cannot synthesize B12 themselves and often lose it through gastrointestinal disease, supplementation is crucial for those with chronic vomiting, diarrhea, or weight loss.
The H Man has been eating regularly...knock wood!
Toppers
For no good reason, January 15 is National Hat Day!
International Hat Day is November 25, so we'll revisit the topic.
Celestial Sweetie enjoyed wearing hats, especially her tiara, which befitted the royal feline that she was.
Plus, she had those nasty murder mitts, so whatever she meowed, we went with!
This year, we asked Henry The Ninth if he was willing to partake, but he gave it a hard pass.
Henry: "Don't think so!"
Manny, the biscuit-maker extraordinaire, def wanted to show off his chef's toque.
Chili Bruce found the straw cowboy hat fit his mood.
Assisting Da Boyz with their headwear had me giggling, and The Hubby wondered what in the Sam Hill was going on?
Once he'd witnessed the modeling session, he quietly turned away to hide in the kitchen.
Am thankful for that, since his attitude was going to wreck the vibe of our photo shoot.
MORE COFFEE...
 10/1 is International Coffee Day!
Click here for more information.
Let's all visit our local coffee shop for a shot of espresso!
And a chocolatey tidbit.
😹 ☕️ 😹 ☕️ 😹
P.S. I rarely drink coffee.
The caffeine does weird things to me, so I stick to tea, which has less caffeine.
About twice a year, I'll splurge and drink a cup of decaf coffee.
The Hubby drinks coffee; he grinds the beans every morning, and uses a simple paper filter.
It's awfully bitter, and always piping hot!
I kid him by saying he likes coffee as hot as lava, and as black as sin.
Oh Yes Turn Your Radio On!
Hopefully-soon-to-be-formerly-feral Friday!
Starring: Handsome Henry
The Hubby decided that Henry's Apartment was too quiet, so he rousted an old radio from somewhere to leave on if I'm not at my desk.
Now I spend a few minutes every day turning that radio on or off.
Henry doesn't appear to have an opinion on the music and chatter, but The Hubby feels it's impawtant, so there you go.
It's a collaboration! ❤️
Far and Wide
It's Twozday!
Manny and Chili Bruce don't only take over MY chair; they get around!
On The Hubby's jacket.
On the futon.
On the ottoman for MY chair, on top of another of The Hubby's jackets.
Sometimes...well, often...when I find one sleeping apart from the other, I cannot help but think that they've had a falling out.
And I fret.
They ALWAYS prove me wrong.
Serious Series
 National Mystery Series Week is celebrated on the first full week in October annually.
And oooooh...I LURV a mystery!
A partial list of my favorites:
None of these are cozy mysteries; fair warning.
And there are SO MANY MORE!
Now you see why using the library is so important to me; I'd be without funds if I had to buy all of these books, and then Manny, Chili Bruce, and Henry would be skinny.
We cannot have that, as they are our babies!
Sting Stang Stung
WARNING!
If you don't like insects and flying critters, don't scroll down!
Okay, I warned you!
Not yet two hours into Autumn, and I managed to harass a yellowjacket nest while pulling backyard weeds.
Just like a cartoon character, I went running while swatting and yelling!
Thankfully, I didn't have an allergic reaction, and The Hubby kindly dabbed hydrocortisone cream on the bites that I cannot reach between my shoulder blades.
A few moments before, I'd gingerly working around a huge spider's web to avoid damaging it, but forgot to look out for flying insects coming out of the ground.
15 to 20 bites.
Will investigate how to either relocate the underground nest, or kill it without damaging chemicals that will harm other wildlife.
Here's hoping that this means I've already hit my quota of surprising and icky events for Autumn!
🐝
Wikipedia says:
Yellowjacket or yellow jacket is the common name in North America for predatory social wasps of the genera Vespula and Dolichovespula.
Members of these genera are known simply as "wasps" in other English-speaking countries.
Good Friends
Ann and June at Zoolatry are featured their good friends all of this month.
Da Boyz are today's subjects!
As The Hubby always says, "The black one is Manny, and the other black one is Chili Bruce."
😹😹😹
❤️Thank you, Zoolatry, for featuring our twins!❤️
FRIYAY!
For us working stiffs, Fridays are beautiful things:
AHHH!!!!
Me: "I've got my audiobook, my cup of tea, and am going to sink into my chair..."
Da Boyz: "HA!  Our chair, thankuverramuch."
Me: *sigh*
The Hubby: "Come over here, and eat watermelon at the table."
Me: *tea and phone abandoned, slurping noises ensue.*
Me: AHHH!!!!
*Da Boyz and The Hubby look on in astonishment.*
Ramped Up
It's Sweetnesday!
Her Majesty was having difficulty navigating the steps that I'd created for her from different levels of cardboard boxes.
She, of course, would not admit to such a thing.
After some research, I learned that steps are harder for aged kitty bones to use, while ramps eliminated the extra pressure on joints.
Therefore, The Hubby was tasked with creating a ramp from whatever supplies he could put together from his vast supply of carpentry detritus (read: scrap) that he's accumulated.
Et voila!
Swee Wee: "Whatever..."
Will admit that she seemed to ignore the thing, and remained on top of the bed much more than usual, and I despaired that she hated the ramp.
But an afternoon away from home (read: not hovering), we discovered that she's navigated around just fine; the food bowl was empty, the water bowl level was lower, and her private powder room accessed.
❤️That's my Sweetie!❤️
Hugs!
4 June is Hug Your Cat Day!
Wait a minute...it's Hug YOUR Cat Day, not Hugging Cats Day, Boyz!
From 2006; The Hubby hugging Celestial Angel
From last weekend; it's hard to take an usie when a big lunk of a kitty is asleep in one's lap!
My arms are too short.
AND, you'll notice, we are in the contentious chair that is MINE, but DA BOYZ often take over for their own nefarious purposes.
Post-Apo-clipse
Wow.
Just WOW!
Have witnessed partial solar eclipses, partial and total lunar eclipses, a myriad of meteorite showers, comets, and more, yet have got to say being in darkness during Monday's celestial event was incredible.
Yes, we got stuck in traffic due to road construction...going both ways...but it was worth it.
The Hubby and I returned home about 5:45 PM, just 45 minutes behind Cat Feeding Schedule, and we were NOT devoured by Da Boyz immediately upon entering the house...lucky us!
Most of my photos came out poorly; being there was the thrill.
😹 Feeling Flushed
Valentine's Day is a subdued affair at Eastside Cats, after more years together than I can count on all of my fingers and toes.
The Hubby and I exchange little love tokens:
Valentine cut from a fancy box
Valentine painted on the wall, since covered over
Valentine made from snow!
 Gotta tell you, that this year's gift was the bestest ever....
drumroll please....
The Hubby replaced the commode in the downstairs bathroom. 🚽
Yep, the too-low, weirdly flushing monstrosity is gone, and a lovely, purrfectly working model now stands in its stead.
Sheer heaven, folks, let me tell you.
Am so thankful for this upgrade to our lives...and you know what?!?
He'll do the same for the upstairs bathroom; I helped to carry the boxed beast up the stairs, where it waits in the hallway for its final resting spot.
WOOT!!! 😹
Up and Down to No Good
It's Twozday!
I captured Manny and Chili Bruce when they'd invaded the kitchen once again.
Chili Bruce, looking up at his brofur.
Note the wallpaper has been clawed at!
Manny, looking down on his brofur...and me.
Da Boyz looking out the window.
Note the bare bits on the ceiling, where Da Boyz have clawed!
~
The kitchen is The Hubby's domain.
He is the chef, the dishwasher, the shopper, the shelf stocker, the popcorn, coffee and tea maker.
How Da Boyz have had so much access to that old kitchen, with its decades-old wallpaper, and even older painted ceiling...
Just blame The Hubby!
Yes, it's a bit untidy, but cats rule here on the Eastside.
Acquisitions
Guess I had money burning a hole in my pocket, when I visited Art Birmingham last weekend:
Greeting cards by LR Design
Black cat lithograph by Jay Wennersten
Da Boyz received a package from The Tooth Fairy, after losing teefs recently:
Thank you, Tooth Fairy Ellen!
I hate running low on anything, especially cat food.  However, I may have gone too far this time:
The Hubby asked Da Boyz if they were having a par-tay, as their Mammy really stocked up.
Such a comedian...
So very thankful to be able to indulge my entire family, and have friends who send gifts.
