'Ear Ya Go

It's Sweetnesday!
Loved catching the shadow of Sweetie's ear peeking over the edge.
Her other ear was tipped when TNR'd in 2009.

Sweetie is deaf, or mostly so, but she can surely turn up the volume when she wants something.

And she has her own refrigerator now.
Image grabbed from interwebs

In our quest to make sure Sweetie gets plenty to eat, we often have 1/2 empty cat food cans.

To carry the cans from upstairs to the kitchen fridge often means walking past Da Boyz with cat food.

In order to make sure the food remains in good condition, but to tease Manny and Chili Bruce less, this wee refrigerator is just the ticket.

It's adorable, just like Sweetie.

Boxed Up

It's Twozday!

Recently, I'd purchased so many cans of cat food, that the store gave us a box to haul it all away in.

Of course, a new box in the house, attracts Da Boyz.
Chili Bruce
Manny
Funny how they didn't share it; it's plenty big enough for two.

Guess it's a time-share box.

Both contributed to ripping the edges with their teeth; wee bits of cardboard are everywhere, as a kind of performance art.

~AND~

Some might wonder how I can tell which cat is which in these images, but it's easy: Manny has a tiny white spot above his lip, sorta like the reverse of Marilyn Monroe's beauty mark.

Acquisitions

Guess I had money burning a hole in my pocket, when I visited Art Birmingham last weekend:
Greeting cards by LR Design
Black cat lithograph by Jay Wennersten
Da Boyz received a package from The Tooth Fairy, after losing teefs recently:
Thank you, Tooth Fairy Ellen!
I hate running low on anything, especially cat food.  However, I may have gone too far this time:
The Hubby asked Da Boyz if they were having a par-tay, as their Mammy really stocked up.

Such a comedian...
So very thankful to be able to indulge my entire family, and have friends who send gifts.

Oopsies!

Today, my readers are THANKFUL that I didn't take pictures!

1. Of the 16 foot long bomit that Manny coughed up yesterday, but thankfully on the hardwood floor.

 2. Sweetie also had an incident, which wasn't in as neat a locale as above.

However, I do have photos of other oopsies:

3. Cat food delivery
Only one can was smashed, and we used it immediately (not the reason for either 1 or 2 above!)

We are thankful today for many things; despite the issues listed above, because living with cats is wonderful, and a few minutes of purring and head bunts makes it all worth it.
In my next life, I'm coming back as a housecat!

Dontcha Just Hate That?

This morning, I cracked open the can of turkey cat food.

It's the same brand we've been using for a long time.

I dole out for Manny and Chili Bruce.

Sweetie gets her Sweetie-sized bowl.

The PO'M gets his more robust lot.

Then...

Manny won't eat.

CB walks away, not a lick taken.

Sweetie walks past her bowl as if it wasn't there.

Lastly, Paddy walks up, walks past, then sits down on the edge, staring out into the yard.

WHAT?!?

Obviously, a bad can!

I gather up the bowls, bring out new bowls, and give them all something else.

Each. Cat. Eats.

The Hubby and I examine the 'bad' can, examine the due date, then examine the other cans from the same case.  We can see nothing different, and we smell nothing different.

Dontcha just hate that?

However, cats know when something isn't right, and there is no way to convince them otherwise!

This is how they should be eating!

P.S. Thank you all for your lovely comments to yesterday's post!

We could feel your hugs and heartfelt expressions of love.

The 5.5 oz Diet

5.5 ounces...
6 ounces...
5.5 ounces...
6 ounces!
The cat food we feed all the cats has changed their cans!  Went from 6 ounces, to 5.5 ounces.  We now have a mix of older 6 ounce cans and the newer 5.5 oz. ones.  I split one can of food in the AM for Chuck and Angel, and one can is split for Patty and Sweetie outside.  In the PM, it's the same thing.  But now, both sets of cats are on a diet!  One half an ounce less of food each day, unless I'm using an old 6 oz. can.  Oh the humanity...erm, it's a CAT-astrophy!  Poor Chuck KNOWS he's getting less, and he sings the song of his people whenever he can, especially when he's snooping 'round the kitchen.  So far, the hubby and I have not cracked under the strain, and woefully doled out MORE food.  All four cats are a bit rounder than they should (see Patty's photo below), so this new diet is a good thing...right?
Fatty Patty, for sure!
But he's so dang cute...
Happy Victoria Day to all Canadians!  I grew up watching professional hockey on Channel 9 Windsor (did you know Canada is actually SOUTH of Metro Detroit?), and will always be grateful for the kindness shown on 9/11 when Canada and Mexico took in airplane travelers who could not land in the U.S. of A.  Thank You!

I DO have cat-food-can-opener elbow!

When I last wrote about my sore elbow, here, I promised to get to the doc to have it checked out.

Well, he tells me it's called 'golfer's elbow', and cranking open cat food cans could surely be the reason for the injury!
Medial Epicondyle to you too, buster!

I am certainly not a golfer, so that's out.  The doc gave me a list of exercises to do, plus the best use of a bag of frozen peas or corn kernels; put it on my sore elbow!  I am to avoid strenuous things that make my elbow hurt (like, duh!).  Funny thing is, at the office, I have to pull open doors to move around the facility, and pulling the doors open KILLS my elbow!  Doc says go slow, take your time, and use good posture. Harrumph...

But the kitties must eat, so I continue to use my left hand to pop those cans open.  Thanks to Katnip Lounge and Tails From The Foster Kittens for suggestions on can-opener devices.   Oh, and the chiropractor doc has found a few spinal areas that need work too; kids, take it from me, treat your back NICELY when you are young, otherwise it will come back to haunt you later on...believe me when I say this!
Gratuitous photo of Sweetie hiding in the garden...
has nothing to do with today's post, but she's a cutie!

Can Elbow

Chuck's waiting...

Angel's waiting...
Cases of canned cat food, waiting...
My right elbow has been aching for months.  It feels like I've bumped the inside against something hard.  But there is no bruise.  At first, I figured it was an injury that I did not remember, or from carrying too much weight on my right hand fingers, when I hook the  gallon water jug and balance full food plates when I feed the 'o' cats.  But week after week, and no relief.  Being right-handed, I'm thinking What the hey?

Enter relative, who says he's having the same problem, and he's nailed his pain down to using a computer mouse for endless hours a day. That's right, folks...Mouse Elbow.  Look it up; I'll wait! Yep, on the internet with Tennis Elbow, lives Mouse Elbow. WELL!  I start monitoring my overuse of my paws at the keyboard.  But no, that's not it.  Maybe it's contributing, but there is something else wrong.

At this point, most folks go to the doctor, or start eating anti-inflammatory meds.  Nope, not me!  I keep searching for the answer.  I go all Sherlock Holmes on everything, which needless to say has driven the hubby a bit batty.  Every time I pick up a spoon, a pen, reach out to grab a coat on a hanger, I've been puzzling out what makes my elbow hurt.

Drum roll...By George, I think I've got it!  OPENING CANNED CAT FOOD!  Pulling on the ring, yanking hard to pop that lid...yep, that hurts! About a month ago, I switched to pulling the lids off using my left hand. This weekend is the first time I've noticed that my right elbow is a tad less sore.  Now, I'm not out of the woods, and I really should high-tail it to the doc, which is on my to-do list.  I promise I will!  But for now, cans are opened on the left side, even if it takes a millisecond longer to dish out noms for the cats...who, trust me!...can tell that I've added a millisecond onto their meals.
