Boxed Up

It's Twozday!

Recently, I'd purchased so many cans of cat food, that the store gave us a box to haul it all away in.

Of course, a new box in the house, attracts Da Boyz.
Chili Bruce
Manny
Funny how they didn't share it; it's plenty big enough for two.

Guess it's a time-share box.

Both contributed to ripping the edges with their teeth; wee bits of cardboard are everywhere, as a kind of performance art.

~AND~

Some might wonder how I can tell which cat is which in these images, but it's easy: Manny has a tiny white spot above his lip, sorta like the reverse of Marilyn Monroe's beauty mark.

Snoozy Snoopervisor

It's Twozday, or rather, maybe 1-1/2's day?

Of course, I wouldn't dream of denying you all an image of Da Boyz being absolutely adorable as they wrapped their paws around each other, in the Winter sunshine!
However, Manny is a snoopervisor when someone's...*cough cough, me, cough*...delivery came in...in a huge box!
Manny: "Mama, what's this?!?"
Manny: "Let's see if I can bite this to get it open!"

Peek-A-Boo Patty

We've set up a box for Patty to sit in
on the front porch.  He often waits for me
to appear every morning with breakfast.

This view is from inside the house.
You can see the tip of his ear!

There is some more ear...

When I open the front door, he jumps
out of the box, and dances around.

"Hey, what's inside there?" as Patty
looks through the cat flap.

And I always respond, "Come on in, Patty!"
I hold the door open...and he runs off down the
steps and towards the driveway.

And yes...we have two front doors!  The original bit of our house was built in Victorian times, then there were at least two additions, probably in the 1920's and 1940's. At some point, the house was divided for an apartment on the second floor, and the large front porch was enclosed as a permanent room.  It's this once-porch that can be locked off from the rest of the house downstairs, and we use that door as our 'front door'.  The original front door (which Patty's box sits in front of), is now used as a window. The old apartment kitchen upstairs is what we've made into a separate cat room, should I ever encourage Patty and Sweetie to venture up to stay.

I realize that Patty and/or Sweetie have to come in on their own four paws and not be carried in. Both sets of cats know each other, see each other, and smell each other on me.  However, I am guessing that Patty will only play peek-a-boo because he is aware that Chuck and Angel have the territory inside, while his is all of the outside. Someday, we will make him understand that the upstairs Cat Room is for 'O' Cats only!

Score!

Received early Christmas presents from my co-worker, and boy, does she know what I like!  The book, "Sorry, I Barfed On Your Bed" by Jeremy Greenberg is an adorable set of essays by kitties who are trying to live a cat life in human homes.  I also received a very cool photo frame; it says, "Love My Cat"!

AND...My very own Quint painting has arrived!  Go to Colehaus Cats to see all the neato artwork that Quint creates, plus a terrific blog by the kitties mom.  I chose Quint's painting of Spring, because it's my favorite time of the year.

I am so excited to have this cat booty!  Thank you, CD for the gifts, and to Colehaus Cats for the painting!

But wait...there's more!  I purchased a big cat pillow over the weekend, and used an old box to make a new beddy for Chuck, up on the bookcase. Actually, I thought it would suit Angel's black-and-white fur perfectly, but once Chuck found it, he claimed it as his!  That old Gateway box is a hoot; cannot believe it's been kicking around the house for all these years.  We all certainly SCORED this week, with great cat stuff all around!

Cat Spit

Do all cats drool?  Maybe I've never noticed it much before, but both Angel and Chuck tend to drool when they are enjoying a hands-on session with their humans.

Angel, already rubbing her face on the box edge
Both rub their jaws and cheeks on the edge of a box, and the drooling begins!  I'll spare you any photos of said spit puddles; the description of them is enough.

Even Patty O'Malley will send bits of spit out into the universe, when he shakes his head, like a big, drool-y dog.  Eww.

Patty appears to be smiling!

Deck Box for Sweetie

Sweetie in the box

Sweetie loves boxes, but due to rain and snow, the boxes deteriorate easily.  Luckily, I have a never-ending supply of empty copier paper boxes from the office, so I change them out for her often. Recently, the hubby found some old plastic containers, and voila!  Sweetie's deck boxes now have protection!  I think she likes it.

Now, for some random photos of Spring at our house!

Angel rocks the box

Angel loves her boxes!  Here are just a few photos of her enjoying open boxes that once held pre-packaged coffee.  She enjoys them so much, that we put a bed inside a box, where she naps every day in the afternoon, and often overnight.  She curls herself up, and often little, bitty snores can be heard.  Hubby and I turn off the TV volume, just to listen to her soft wheezes, and it always makes us smile.  The brush lays there too, so she gets brushed while in a box, and I dangle the cat toy so she can bat at it while she reclines.

William of Mass Destruction, you are too much!  Thanks for the shout out; I've been a fan of your blog for years, and you inspired me to start my own cat blog.  William looks so much like our Chuck, down to the white bits of fur on his belly and his long, thick tail.  I visit you everyday, to read up on William, Elliott and Caroline, and also to click on The Animal Rescue Site and Free Kibble Kat.  I haven't figured out how to put their icons on my blog, but I'll keep trying!
