In Gray

Now that all of my siblings are retired, and Mom is in assisted living, we tend to gather at least once a month for various reasons.

Long ago, we scoffed at the old saw about the elderly always talking about their ailments.

Well, over a couple of meals last week, we discussed feet, heart, mammography, hearing, and the ability to recall items from the past...and, of course, 'kids these days!'

So, a few silly memes to share the truth of the matter; we're ancient.

Yep, we've gone and done it!

I've forbidden the 'o' word at Eastside Cats, preferring 'aged' or 'seasoned'.

After all, The Hubby has more years on him than I.

Ramped Up

It's Sweetnesday!

Her Majesty was having difficulty navigating the steps that I'd created for her from different levels of cardboard boxes.

She, of course, would not admit to such a thing.

After some research, I learned that steps are harder for aged kitty bones to use, while ramps eliminated the extra pressure on joints.

Therefore, The Hubby was tasked with creating a ramp from whatever supplies he could put together from his vast supply of carpentry detritus (read: scrap) that he's accumulated.
Et voila!
Swee Wee: "Whatever..."
Will admit that she seemed to ignore the thing, and remained on top of the bed much more than usual, and I despaired that she hated the ramp.

But an afternoon away from home (read: not hovering), we discovered that she's navigated around just fine; the food bowl was empty, the water bowl level was lower, and her private powder room accessed.

❤️That's my Sweetie!❤️

Tranquil

It's Sweetnesday, and The Swee Wee is quietly enjoying Spring.
Actually for her, the seasons are all the same, except windows are opened more often when the temperatures are higher.

At her recent veterinary visit, she'd gained a smidge of weight, we decided to try Gabapentin, and a lump was discovered between her shoulder blades.

The vet's staff will avoid giving any injections in that area, hoping it's a reaction to past jabs, and may not increase.

We are hoping it's nothing, and will simply pamper her as much as she allows.

Am determined to remain hopeful, and as tranquil as she is.

Well, except between say 2 and 4 am most mornings, when she must make sure some human is paying attention to her enough to lull her back to sleep.

Am happy to be a comfort.
