Don't Mess With One of These!

National Unicorn Day on April 9, is mostly celebrated in Scotland.

But why should the Scots have all of the fun?!?

Go forth and spread some sparkles on this holiday.

Am thankful that there are other folks out there like me, who enjoy the goofy, the bizarre, and want to just have fun with reality or with fictional beasties!

~~~
Thank you all for your concern for Henry.
Wednesday morning, he'd eaten all...ALL...of the food that I'd left for him.
I put out fresh, smelly stuff.
He ate that, plus his dinner, and now a little bit extra that I snuck past Da Boyz.
Our primary goal is that he gets food in his tummy, and we hope the current habit stays strong even after we tail back on the meds.
And do I adore having him curl up next to me at night?
YES!
"Remember Tam o' Shanter's Mare"
Each year, Scotland and the Scottish diaspora celebrate Burns Night or Robert Burns Day on January 25, in tribute to Scotland's National Bard, Robert Burns.
As far as I know, my family has barely any Scottish blood, although The Hubby's has a wee bit.
However, I've always felt there is Celt somewhere in me, and I adore everything Scot.
That includes men wearing kilts. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
A few items from me to you, hoping to give a smile.
For Sunday Selfies, Manny models a tam o'shanter, and I artified it.
Trills
November 30 is St. Andrew's Day in Scotland, and for the global Scottish diaspora.
How' bout some silly bagpipe cartoons to celebrate?
A personal note:
Years ago, The Hubby and I attended a jazz festival.
As we walked toward the site of the festival, we encountered the most beautiful bagpipe music.
We guessed that someone was practising in a nearby parking garage, and the music moved my soul unexpectedly.
I began to cry.
Not in sorrow, but like I'd come home; something familiar.
Never discovered the bagpiper, nor the song that was played...nor why there was bagpiping at a jazz festival.
A very unique moment for me.
It's Selfie Sunday!
Henry took up the Sunday Selfie challenge, making sure he included his much-loved toys.
The Plaids The Thing...
6 April is Tartan Day!
Tartan Day is a chance for people around the world to celebrate their connections to Scotland.
First recognised in Nova Scotia, Canada in 1987, the event is now marked around the world as a celebration of Scottish culture and heritage.
And for your entertainment:
And more info:
Both plaids and tartans are woven of stripes that meet at 90-degree angles.
Tartans have an identical pattern of stripes running vertically and horizontally, resulting in overlapping square grids.
Regular plaids are not necessarily the same in both directions, with variation in color, size, and/or pattern of stripes.
In Scotland, the word “plaid” comes from the Gaelic word for blanket, and it’s used to describe the large kind of kilt worn over the shoulder, not the fabric pattern.
Rabbie Burns
 25 January is Robert Burns Day
A Burns supper is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns, the author of many Scots poems.
The suppers are normally held on or near the poet's birthday, 25 January, known as Burns Night also called Robert Burns Day or Rabbie Burns Day.
The text to "Auld Lang Syne" was written by Robert Burns in 1788, being based on an older Scottish folk song.
A few sillies in celebration of the poet, and Scots in general.
Thankful for the authors who've written books, with plots that take place in Scotland, both in moden times, Victorian Times, or 'way further back in history.
St. Andrew's Day
30 November is St. Andrew's Day in Scotland.
St. Andrew's Day is marked with a celebration of Scottish culture, and with traditional Scottish food and music.
In Scotland the day is also seen as the start of a season of Scottish winter festivals encompassing Saint Andrew's Day, Hogmanay (31 December), and Burns Night (25 January).
Have collected a few Scottish memes and cartoons, for kicks and giggles, and no disrespect paid to anyone.
Am thankful for silliness!
Wee Cheetie
Diana Gabaldon's book "Outlander" was first published on 1 June, 1991.
A world-wide phenomenon since then, the Outlander book series, TV series, and the resulting sales of t-shirts, tartans, fan tours of Scotland and North Carolina, are a big deal.
1 June is World Outlander Day.
For some of us, it's all about the wee cheetie, Adso.
Adso with his mom, Claire Fraser, played by Caitriona Balfe.
Adso with his dad, Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan.
Okay, okay...so, there are handsome lads in uniforms, tricorns, and kilts too!
😹😹😹
Adso is found alone in the North Carolina woods by Jamie, who gifts the kitten to his wife, in Book 5 of the series, "The Fiery Cross".
Adso appears in every book after that, and he's quite the character, as befitting any feline with time-traveling humans as companions.
Am thankful to my bff JB, who introduce this author and series to me; let's blame it all on her, shall we?
Tartan Day
 Tartan Day is a North American celebration of Scottish heritage on 6 April, the date on which the Declaration of Arbroath was signed in 1320.
Tartan Day originated in Canada in the mid-1980s. It spread to other communities of the Scottish diaspora in the 1990s.
💔Puppy in a kilt!💖
Today, I am BEYOND grateful to my bestest friend JB, who years ago suggested that I might like to read a newly published book: "Outlander".
Believe it or not, I ignored her advice, until thirty years later, in Autumn, 2021, I happened across the audiobook on my library phone app, and decided to give it a try.
I am now an official Outlander fangirl, having read the entire book series twice, AND watched the TV show on DVD from...wait for it...the library.
Therefore, one more tartan photo:
Actor Sam Heughan, portraying the hero of the Outlander stories, Jamie Fraser.
The tartan worn here was created by historians and costumers, using 1700's technology and dyes, for the most accurate re-creation of clothing at that time.
The actor makes it all look SMASHING!😽
St. Andrew's Day: Scotland
St. Andrew’s Day is celebrated each year on 30 November.
People across the Scotland gather to celebrate St. Andrew the Apostle, and share good times.
The day is usually marked with a celebration of Scottish culture, including dancing, music, food and drink, with parties going on long into the cold winter night.
As I read and listen to audiobooks by Scot authors or authors who write about Scotland, I figured I should honor this holiday, with some memes.
Collected by me: a wee dafty, maybe a numpty, sure an eejit!😹
A short list of some favorite Scottish books:
Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series
Marion Todd's Detective Clare Mackay series
Peter May's Lewis Trilogy
Kelley Armstrong's A Rip Through Time series
Ann Cleeve's Shetland Island series
