Barn Cats Like You've Never Seen Before!

Thankful to have attended the 2024 Saline Celtic Festival.
Highland Cow
A Knight with his steed.
These actors are quite flat.

There were plenty of kilts, but it was too creepy to be snapping photos of dudes!

A few miles away from the Fairgrounds, I'd heard a rumor that there was a cat barn, so I drove out into farm country...
...and I found it!

A Mama with two kittens.

Not usual behavior for barn roofs, yet worth the extra drive out from Metro Detroit.

Newest Cat Clothes

AHA!

Bet some of you thought I'd purchased more embarrassing outfits for The Eastside Cats, and you'd be correct, but this post isn't about that...it's about new-to-me clothes, with cat stuff on them!

A soft and comfortable sleep shirt

Front of T-shirt found at a resale shop.
Back of t-shirt.
Cost: $1.50
Worth: Priceless!

T-shirt, because of the "Outlander" character Adso.

Wee Cheetie

Diana Gabaldon's book "Outlander" was first published on 1 June, 1991.

A world-wide phenomenon since then, the Outlander book series, TV series, and the resulting sales of t-shirts, tartans, fan tours of Scotland and North Carolina, are a big deal.

1 June is World Outlander Day.

For some of us, it's all about the wee cheetie, Adso.
Adso with his mom, Claire Fraser, played by Caitriona Balfe.
Adso with his dad, Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan.
Okay, okay...so, there are handsome lads in uniforms, tricorns, and kilts too!
😹😹😹
Adso is found alone in the North Carolina woods by Jamie, who gifts the kitten to his wife, in Book 5 of the series, "The Fiery Cross".

Adso appears in every book after that, and he's quite the character, as befitting any feline with time-traveling humans as companions.

Am thankful to my bff JB, who introduce this author and series to me; let's blame it all on her, shall we?

Tartan Day

Tartan Day is a North American celebration of Scottish heritage on 6 April, the date on which the Declaration of Arbroath was signed in 1320.

Tartan Day originated in Canada in the mid-1980s. It spread to other communities of the Scottish diaspora in the 1990s.

💔Puppy in a kilt!💖
Today, I am BEYOND grateful to my bestest friend JB, who years ago suggested that I might like to read a newly published book: "Outlander".

Believe it or not, I ignored her advice, until thirty years later, in Autumn, 2021, I happened across the audiobook on my library phone app, and decided to give it a try.

I am now an official Outlander fangirl, having read the entire book series twice, AND watched the TV show on DVD from...wait for it...the library.

Therefore, one more tartan photo:

Actor Sam Heughan, portraying the hero of the Outlander stories, Jamie Fraser.
The tartan worn here was created by historians and costumers, using 1700's technology and dyes, for the most accurate re-creation of clothing at that time.
The actor makes it all look SMASHING!😽

Kiss A Ginger Day

Thankful for Gingers!
Tiger was a stray.
My neighbor happily made their home hers.
She is allowed outside only when a human is watching, and as a regular sidewalk traveler, I manage to give her a pat and a smooch when possible.
Rufus lives in Detroit, Michigan.
He is VERY SHY, and seems to think that I want to eat him.
I often visit Black Cat Pottery, where Rufus lives, and if he's eating, he allows pats and smooches, and by Gum, I take advantage of that!

Of course, I'd love to be kissing these gingers:
Eric in British Columbia, Canada
Eddie in Manchester, UK
Tyger in Georgia, Asia/Europe
Mango and Rusty, Florida USA
- and -
a certain ginger-haired Scot from the "Outlander" series...sorry, couldn't pass up a chance to drool over this:

Adso

June 1 is World Outlander Day.

As I've posted about this book series before, I am beyond thankful that my bff recommended it to me.

How could I not like a series that has this adorable kitty?

His name is Adso, and was discovered as a kitten alone in the woods, by the character Jamie Fraser.

He gifts the wee grey potato to his wife, Claire.
Claire and Adso.
Jamie and Adso.
Isn't he dreamy?
Lord John Grey and Adso...as a inside joke to some of us who are a bit too involved in the stories!
These images from the TV show were collected from Facebook.

However, while the show is great, the books are the only way to go!

Late To The Party

Author: Diana Gabaldon
Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone

Published November 23rd 2021 by Doubleday Canada
ISBN0385685548 (ISBN13: 9780385685542)
Edition Language English
Series: Outlander #9

Chili Bruce isn't much for my reading when I should be admiring him!

Years ago, a dear friend suggested the book, "Outlander" to me, believing that I'd enjoy it.

I scoffed, ignored the advice, and read other books.

Until a few months ago, that is.

Once I started reading the stories, I didn't stop until I'd read all available books in the series: eight, and then read the novellas and side series books by the author.

And then, I watched the DVD's of the television show.

When Book #9 was published, I put my name on the library list to get a copy...and it's arrived!

One grows with the characters, and lives with them, especially books of over 900 pages.

Too bad I have a full-time job, otherwise I'd read all day, every day.

As how this relates to cats, well, there is one cat in the storyline, Adso, who owns the main characters, Jamie and Clair.

And you can tell that Chili Bruce has an opinion on reading, see image above.

Am thankful for good books, good characters, good writers, and libraries!
