17 July is National Tattoo Day, and it just so happens that I have an appointment to have my Celestial Sweetie tattoo brightened with a ring of flowers.

I've chosen blooms that she lived with when an 'O' Cat.

Tail Tales

It's Sweetnesday!

Swee Wee's tailio is short, like she is.

However, she manages it like a fine accessory that adorns her demure but classic black outfit.

Draped over the edge of The Sweetie Spa.

Straight out!

With a genteel curve.

Sweetie is doing well with her meds, and I've become a dab hand at presenting her gushy stinky food just the way she likes it: as thick soup!

Now that we are feeding four cats, it's easy to crack open two cans of food, mix the batch in one bowl, then distribute even portions all 'round.

Sweetie's portion, however, is doled out over time; she doesn't like a big bowlful anymore; rather, as she eats until one can see the bottom of the bowl, I 'replace' a few spoonfuls and 'fluff' it all up, as if it's a brand new meal.

She's eating, drinking water, using her litterpan, and waking me early almost every morning now, which are all good things.

Stomp

It's Sweetnesday!

Our Sweetie continues to eat well, sleeps in her Sweetie Spa, and yells at me when on online work meetings and phone calls.

She also makes sure to show her displeasure if I'm up late reading, by stomping across me and yelling in my face!

As the colder weather has begun, she often wants to get under the bed covers, however she won't burrow herself; humans have to lift the edge for her to enter.

It's good to be The Queen!👑

Demanding

Queen Sweet the First has demanded her fair share of blog posting, as she was rudely IGNORED for the past two Wednesdays aka Sweetnesdays.

Sweetie KNOWS when we mix her meds into her food, and she avoids that meal.

Little sneak!

Putting 1/2 of her ground meds in for breakfast, and the other half in the evening seems to work most of the time.

Our list of priorities: 1) she eats, 2) she gets her meds, 3) she gets her kidney Omega 3 oil.

Luckily, she drinks water, and is using the litter pan like a champ.

While I was away, The Hubby and Sweetie began a 'thing'; he lies on the bed, and she walks over his torso.

Her Murder Mitts are trimmed, as the vet tech takes care of that at every Solensia shot visit.

Now, if only I can get a chance to work on her matted fur...

Love her so much, despite her often prickly demeanor.

Tiny Bubbles

It's Sweetnesday!

Rare occurrence: allowing me to hold her paw.

Bed hog.

What a funny face!

She has a new nickname, courtesy of The Hubby: Tiny Bubbles.

Sweetie is so wee compared to Da Boyz, one cannot help but marvel at her diminutive size.

We've had limited success with the appetite stimulant; will continue to tweak our delivery method.

New to the Sweetie Health program: Omega-3 oil, to assist her kidneys.

So far, so good with that.

The Unknown

While an outside cat in August, 2018, one didn't know Sweetie's true purrsonality:

Okay, maybe we had an inkling that she wasn't just a pretty face.

Speckled

It's Sweetnesday!

Our Miss Growly Pants may be a housepanther, yet she's speckled with fine white hairs all over.

Her paws and legs.

Her chest (that's dusty fuzz on her face!)

Her whiskers really shine in the sun.

Sweetie received her sixth Solensia injection last week, along with a six-month check-up.

She'd lost some weight, and mention of her usual morning bomit sessions caused the veterinarian to take blood and urine samples (no results yet), and prescribed an appetite stimulant.  

Afraid of over-stimulating to the point of being kept up all night while Sweetie begs for food, we crushed up 1/4 of one wee pill, and I dust in only a few grains into her food.

It works; she eats up her meals lickety-split!

Here's hoping her next weigh-in will read over 7 lbs.

November 2019 Outside Sweetie

It's Sweetnesday!

Images from Sweetie's final Autumn as an outside cat.

The falling leaves are in sharp contrast with her dark fur.

Sweetie peeking out from behind a wind block ie an old door found in the barn.

Sweetie may not look back on her years outside, but I do!

The memory of first time she allowed me to pet her will stay in my heart furever.

It took years for her to trust me, and now, we snooze together every night, and she joins my Zoom meetings during the workweek with howls.

I, for one, am delighted!

Sweetie WAS feral, or at least eeking out a living on the streets.

We TNR'd her in 2009, and fed, watered, and sheltered her until March, 2020, when we brought her inside.

Sweetie took to indoor living quickly, meaning that she'd been someone's cat once.

Many community cats aren't socialized to humans, but they are just as deserving of our love and care.

Support your local TNR group and attend a class to learn how to care for a feral community.

8/17: Black Cat Appreciation Day

It's Sweetnesday!

And, how best to celebrate Black Cat Appreciation Day than by highlighting our formerly feral Sweetie.

She's a bed hog, as soon as I get up.

Sweetie often climbs onto my chest, using me as a breathing cat beddy.

It's okay with me; after over a decade outside, any perk that we can give her is worth the few moments of not sleeping that it causes.
