Coned

It's Caturday!

Came across this November 2004 pic of Celestial Angel, just after her spay surgery, and she was wearing a cone.

She looked so forlorn, but when I removed the cone, she'd lick at her stitches, thus the cone was put back in place.

That was 21 years ago, and she flew to the Rainbow Bridge almost five years ago when she was 15-1/2 years old, yet she'll always be my baby girl.

I used Prisma's Sea Horse filter, because of the pink blush.

Tuxedo Cats!

29 January is Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day, sponsored by Stunning Keisha!

We had the pleasure of caring for Celestial Sammy, an 'O' Cat.

And, if we stretch the rules of 'tuxedo', we can include our Celestial Angel.

She was more of a cow-colored kitty, but there aren't appreciation days for moo cats!
The beautiful fur markings for both Angel and Sammy will never be forgotten.

Kitten Therapy

16 years ago, Celestial Angel was a kitten, and she was a real cutie.
We called her our 'cow-colored' kitty.

The Hubby and I considered 'cow' names for her, like Elsie or Betsy.

But cats tend to pick their own names, and Angel was purrfect for her.

Except for the time at the vet's office, when there were three Angels waiting in the lobby:
Angel the cat
Angel the bunny rabbit
Angel the dog

Dual Gotchaversary: Chuck and Angel 8/29/04

Sweet babies; littermates Angel and Chuck taught us a vast amount about being owned by cats.

Neither The Hubby nor I had ever been in thrall to felines prior to 8/29/2004.
Kitten Angel, so named for my father who'd very recently passed.
She was a beauty, with delightfully soft fur.
Brown Baby Chuck, hence the name Chocolate, Chucky for short.
What a cat, despite years of health issues.
Just gazing upon these photos brings back so many memories, and of course, we have small shrines to both of them.

We'll always have cats in our lives now, especially housepanthers.

Happy Gotchaversary at The Rainbow Bridge, you two!

Which cat is which?

Cow-colored Cat A
Cat B (never mind the goofy person in the background!)
Hard to tell these two kitties apart!

Actually, it's easy!  Cat A is Angel; her ears are pink inside, and she has white and black fur on them too.  Cat B is Aries: his ears are all black, and are dark inside.

However, in a quick glance, it's hard to distinguish which one is which. Surprisingly, Angel and Aries are about the same body size, although I'm guessing that Aries is somewhat older, plus he's a boy.  He spends most of his time in our backyard, and he hasn't missed a meal since we've set out a bowl of his very own, rather than having to eat up Patty and Sweetie's leftovers.  I think he's moved into Mama's House; the empty shelter we built in 2009 when Sweetie had her kittens.  I'll get photographic evidence soon!

Aries loves to be petted and smooched, and he's easily picked up and carried.  Cannot say the same thing for Angel: although she purrs when petted, she dislikes being handled (although she relaxes for The Hubby...), and she would rather observe from beyond arms-length.  To have her walk toward a human is such a big deal!  We love her pink nose and her pink ears and her white whiskers and her shy ways to distraction, and Aries is making himself into a loving part of our cat world too.
