It's PO'Monday!

"Summertime and the livin' is easy..."

Oh, to be sitting on the deck, hangin' with The PO'M.

Listen To A Story

 June is Audiobook Month!

I list my most recent audiobook listens on Walkin' and Readin' Wednesdays, so on this first day of Audiobook Month, here's a list of the titles that aren't mainstream, yet are entertaining as heck.

Slaycation Series, by Lauren Biel

1. Sinners Retreat (2024)
2. Slay Ride (2025)
3. Ship Happens (2025)
4. Slaughter Park (2026)
5. Sinners Reunion (August, 2026)

"Serial killers need vacations too! This is a dark rom-com series" - Goodreads

Lots of humor, very adult, and yeah, bad people are unalived...a lot.

Clovenhoof Series, by Heide Goody and Iain Grant

1. Clovenhoof (2012)
2. Pigeonwings (2013)
3. Godsquad (2015)
4. Hellzapoppin' (2015)
5. Beelzebelle (2016)
6. Hooflandia (2018)
7. Holymoly (2018)
8. Alpacalypse (2023)
9. Hankypanky (2024)
10. Babelicious (2025)

"Charged with gross incompetence, Satan is fired from his job as Prince of Hell and exiled to that most terrible of places: English suburbia, and forced to live as a human." - Goodreads

To me, these authors hold up a mirror to modern society, and take massive potshots at everything: governments, soccer mom's, every organized religion, pubs, heavy metal bands, writers, saints, and more.

Snark, humor, silliness beyond what meer mortals can do, but do NOT mess with Joan of Arc, unless it's with a hot-air balloon.

Stranger Times Series, by C. K. McDonnell

1. The Stranger Times (2021)
2. This Charming Man (2022)
3. Love Will Tear Us Apart (2023)
4. Relight My Fire (2024)
5. Ring the Bells (2025)

"A weekly newspaper dedicated to the weird and the wonderful (but mostly the weird), it is the go-to publication for the unexplained and inexplicable." - Goodreads

Manchester UK has got ghosts, monsters, magic, vampires, and more, and The Stranger Times staff wants to report it all, except there are dark forces that don't want anyone to know.

Humor, goofiness, and then there is DI Sturgess who has an alien living in his head.

Kat and Lock Series, by Jo Callaghan

1. In the Blink of an Eye (2023)
2. Leave No Trace (2024)
3. Human Remains (2025)
4. Body of Lies (2026) Audiobook not yet available in US

"Featuring DCS Kat Frank and Lock – the world’s first AI Detective - AIDE (Artificially Intelligent Detective Entity)." - Goodreads

Lock can scan computer files by the thousands in seconds, saving the police time and money, yet probabilities don't catch criminals.

🙀🙀🙀

Henry Update:

Henry is a feline sleeping tablet!

If a human lays down on the bed with him, they will be asleep before they know it.

Must be the way he parks his body up against the human.

Muse at a Museum

May 18 is International Museum Day.

“Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples.”

As a certified museum nerd, I visit art and history museums whenever I get the chance, plus belong to the feeds of many museums around the world.

Am sure the smallest museum I've visited is the Serpent Mound State Memorial, in Peebles, Ohio: what a fantastic place!

The largest museum that my feet have been in would be The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York City, which is ranked #4 on the list of largest museums in the world.

Have also visited #5: American Museum of Natural History, also in New York City, and #6, The British Museum, in London, UK.

Artist: William Merritt Chase (American, 1849–1916).
Subject: James Abbott McNeill Whistler (American, 1834–1903).
Metropolitan Museum of Art

The more unique museums that I've enjoyed so far:

There is always something new to see and to learn at the museum!

~~~
Henry Update:
*in a whisper*
*Henry has been eating steadily, as he only receives INABA Churu Meal Mousse Adult Wet Cat Food, Tuna Variety, and this is NOT an ad for the product.*
*Have found that he doesn't respond to the canned food that Da Boyz get, nor did he enjoy the fresh, ground turkey that The Hubby recently cooked, which should make Trout Talkin' Tabbies happy.*
*Do not want to type any of this out loud, 'cause ya know, everything can change in a heartbeat!*
Yard Dude
May, 2016
Celestial Paddy O'Malley's fur colors looked terrific against the green, no?
In some ways, Henry resembles Paddy:
Tabby
Outside to Inside
My special dude
Henry Update:
Yes, that's me he's using as a pillow.
Paddy, Sweetie, Me
It's PO'Monday!
A cute interaction montage: me, Paddy, and Sweetie.
Just love how Paddy can't figure out how he'd lost the top spot!
😹 😹 😹
~~~

Henry Update:

Sunday morning, we had pooplogs.

Sorry, Henry, this is a milestone, after you eating regularly, so I'm letting folks know even if it's embarrassing to you.

We cannot fix your innards, but if we can make you comfortable and as healthy as possible; this is our goal.

Will you start playing with your spring toys and catnip fish again?

Four Twenty

April 20, or 4/20, pronounced as 'Four Twenty' is recognized as a national holiday for the cannabis culture.

Some sillies:

Make sure you've got a well-stocked snack stash today!

😹 😎 😹

Henry Update:

He's eating better, but still lethargic.

Continued runny poops.

Good thing we have a visit with the veterinarian early today.

Let The Sun Shine

It's PO'Monday!

Early April, 2013, The 'O' Cats were enjoying some sunshine:

Paddy O'Malley gives a stretch.

Sweetie is coy.

Sammy gives his opinion about something.

Henry Update:

Was at a family gathering for a good chunk of Sunday, so when I'd returned home and found that Henry had eaten his morning's meal at some point, it felt great!

He's friendly and NOT being a lump on the bed, but subdued.

He licked up almost two churus from my hand, and I hope he'll nibble on the freshly plated canned food that The Hubby set out.

I write this on Sunday, and I'll call the vet's office on Monday, to discuss additional meds or ideas on helping Henry regain his scarfing mojo.

You've all given great information in comments: I'll discuss each with the vet.

Thank you!

UPDATE, Monday AM

Henry ate all of the food left for him overnight, and he's cleaned his b'fast bowl!

🙀 ðŸ™€ ðŸ™€

Also thanks for the b'day wishes for The Hubby.

Get Your Tartan to the Library!

National Tartan Day, April 6, is a celebration of Scottish heritage and the cultural contributions of Scottish and Scottish-diaspora figures of history.

The name refers to tartan, a patterned woollen cloth associated with Scotland.

The event originated in Nova Scotia, Canada, in 1987.

In addition, April 6 starts National Library Week!

EDIT:

Nope, I had this info all wrong, my bad!

National Library Week USUALLY starts on the 2nd full week in April, but in 2026, which I just discovered, is April 19-25!

Henry Update:

He eating, just somewhat less than he normally consumes.

His right eye is still a bit closed; another three full days of drops every eight hours.

I lay on the bed with him as often as I can, and he's begun to climb on me!

HB Vincent!

Today is the birthday of Post Impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh: 3/30/1853-7/29/1890

 A few sillies that were found on social media:

To be serious, I recommend:

"Van Gogh's Ear: The True Story" by Bernadette Murphy, published in 2016.

An easy read, full of interesting details about what happened on the night of 12/23/1888.

There is also a Public Broadcasting System episode from the Secrets of the Dead series that follows Bernadette's research, and how she and her team uncovered the missing piece of evidence that had solved the mystery of Van Gogh's ear: the actual notebook of the doctor who treated Vincent, with a drawing of the injury.

Just a little cut on the earlobe, or something much more?

If you don't want to read the book or watch the show, send me a comment and I'll tell you what the author found.

~~~
Henry Update:
The panic...yes, I was panicky!...has lessened, since he's being friendly and allowing pets, he sleeps in the bed at night, and so far is making the correct deposits in the litter box.
Saturday evening, he excitedly started on a churu, but backed away from it after about 1/3 of it was gone.
He allowed combing and snuggles afterward.
Sunday afternoon, he snacked from his food bowl, eating about a tablespoonful of wet food.
Thanks for the wishes that he's better; it's making a difference.
Lemme Fix That
It's PO'Monday, and exactly seven years ago, Celestial Paddy O'Malley decided that my hairstyle needed some help.
Video made on March 23, 2019.
He was such a helpful kitty!
On The Paw
It's PO'Monday!
Celestial Paddy O'Malley was busily scouting his territory on March 15, 2013:
Truthfully, he simply followed me as I roamed around the yard.
We received a goodly amount of snow the next day.
