Muse at a Museum

May 18 is International Museum Day.

“Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples.”

As a certified museum nerd, I visit art and history museums whenever I get the chance, plus belong to the feeds of many museums around the world.

Am sure the smallest museum I've visited is the Serpent Mound State Memorial, in Peebles, Ohio: what a fantastic place!

The largest museum that my feet have been in would be The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York City, which is ranked #4 on the list of largest museums in the world.

Have also visited #5: American Museum of Natural History, also in New York City, and #6, The British Museum, in London, UK.

Artist: William Merritt Chase (American, 1849–1916).
Subject: James Abbott McNeill Whistler (American, 1834–1903).

The more unique museums that I've enjoyed so far:

There is always something new to see and to learn at the museum!

Henry Update:

*in a whisper*

*Henry has been eating steadily, as he only receives INABA Churu Meal Mousse Adult Wet Cat Food, Tuna Variety, and this is NOT an ad for the product.*

*Have found that he doesn't respond to the canned food that Da Boyz get, nor did he enjoy the fresh, ground turkey that The Hubby recently cooked, which should make Trout Talkin' Tabbies happy.*

*Do not want to type any of this out loud, 'cause ya know, everything can change in a heartbeat!*

Tapati Festival

Based on tradition, the 2026 Tapati Festival on Easter Island is expected to be held between approximately January 30 and February 15, 2026, typically occupying the first half of February.

Am fascinated by ancient cultures and their abilities to carve huge, seemingly superhuman, rock statues or monoliths.

Below is a short video, explaining the progression of views on how the folks moved the huge rock carvings:

Therefore, in honor of the Easter Island Tapati Festival, here are a few items collected from social media and from my photo library, for your amusement.

London Trip, May 2018

Exactly two years ago, I was in London, England!

Trafalgar Square
Nave of St. Paul's Cathedral
Reconstructed Globe Theatre
Ancient Egyptian cat statue at The British Museum
"Woman With A Cat" by Eduoard Manet at The National Gallery
London Bridge
If you didn't already know, I majored in History at college, particularly British history.
I minored in Art History.

Forget it, I'm NOT telling you in what year I graduated!

*shaking finger*

Obviously, a trip to the UK was HUGE on my 'to-do' list.

Two years later, I continue to be beyond thankful for the opportunity to travel to the UK.

I thank The Hubby for being only positive about the money spent and the time away from home.

I thank my family members with whom I traveled, for their extra care as my broken finger bones were still wrapped up, and that they didn't laugh too hard at my weird pants; I could pull them on one-handed, but they weren't exactly fashionable...🙀

I'm Back!!!

Had a great time! Cannot believe we did so much in London and Bath, UK.  I have lots to tell you all about, but I'll break it up into posts about each thing separately.

First off, I never saw a single living cat!  Not on a windowsill, not in a park, nor on a street, sidewalk, or even in someone's purse or walking carriage!  Lots of cats seen in paintings, in museums, and on people's shirts, jackets or tote bags, however.

So, here is one of my favorite items purchased; this from the British Museum.

This delightful cat head statue is paperweight sized, but it looks purrfect on my home art collection shelf!  Am pretty sure it's design was taken from this beautiful cat idol, which was on display.

More to come, and I promise to start visiting all of your blogs.  Travel is wonderful, but nothing beats one's own bed, own familiar household stuff, and do I need to mention The Hubby and my furry babies?
