Feasts for the Eyes and Ears

It's Walkin' and Readin' Wednesday, and here are some lovelies seen recently:

Ruby, who is a sweet wee pupper.

Niko owns the street.

Nightfury

Thomas

Feral Colony, of which Eightball is one of the four.
We loaned a humane trap to these folks, when Eightball was wounded; he's all better now.

These neighbors have got to hear me making smoochie noises at their cat; the window is open!
Just haven't caught anyone outside yet, in order for me to ask.

Recent audiobooks:

Swordheart, by T. Kingfisher, narrated by Jesse Vilinsky

"A sensible widow, Halla, inherits an estate and is threatened by her in-laws, leading her to accidentally release an immortal warrior, Sarkis, trapped in a sword; he becomes her reluctant bodyguard as they fight to secure her inheritance." - Goodreads

Entertaining romp, with magic, talking badger-like oxen drivers, and a woman who finds her groove.

The Lost Masterpiece, by B. A. Shapiro, narrated by Lucy Rayner, Christine Lakin, and Hannah Curtis

"A story of love, adultery, betrayal, longing, family secrets, and the birth of Impressionism." - Goodreads

Have enjoyed a few books by this author, and this one is good too!

Wylding Hall, by Elizabeth Hand, narrated by about a dozen narrators

What really happened to Julian Blake, who disappeared at Wylding Hall when his British acid-folk band gathered to make an album?

A short audiobook, with a gobstopper of an ending; entertaining!

Henry Update:

His first chemo pill was administered on Tuesday evening.

The very kind vet technician saw my worried face when I'd stopped in the vet's office to pick up meds, and assured me all would be well.

We hope so; Henry The Ninth is one heckuva kitty, and we want him to have a good, comfortable life.

CBL

It's Twozday, and it's all about the lazy stylings of Chili Bruce.

Chili Bruce:

Really dark brown fur.

Will eat anything; the un-fussiest eater we've ever fed!

Licks his brofur Manny's eyebrows off.

Turns in circles before his food bowl is placed.

The Hubby calls him 'Chili'; I'm the one who says 'Chili Bruce', and even 'Chili Bruce Lee'.

Had one white whisker when we adopted Da Boyz, then he lost it a few months later.  Still hasn't regrown one, and Manny refuses to try to grow one of his own.

Has bald spots on the 'knees' of his back feets.

~~~
Henry Update:
We are having a heat wave!
Henry doesn't like open windows; too much stimulation, so he hides under the dresser, which can be problematic when it's time to give him his meds.
No worries; somehow, I've coaxed him out.
Bloomin'
 Walkin' and Readin' Wednesday
In the 'hood:
Recent audiobooks:
How to Cheat Your Own Death by Kristen Perrin, Castle Knoll Files series book #3
Narrated by Alexandra Dowling & Jaye Jacobs
Two murders decades apart appear to be tied to the artwork of Annie's mother, and her never-before-seen father just appears at the same time.
Tales of huge amounts of missing money, stolen heirlooms, nasty family infighting, and if Annie isn't careful, she'll lose more than her heart.
The Bookbinder's Secret, by A.D. Bell
Narrated by Olivia Vinall
"A young bookbinder begins a hunt for the truth when a confession hidden beneath the binding of a burned book reveals a story of forbidden love, lost fortune, and murder, in 1901 Oxford." - Goodreads
Brunelleschi's Dome: How a Renaissance Genius Reinvented Architecture by Ross King
Narrated by James Cameron Stewart
"At first denounced as a madman, Brunelleschi literally reinvented the field of architecture amid plagues, wars, and political feuds to raise seventy million pounds of metal, wood, and marble hundreds of feet in the air." - Amazon
~~~

Henry Update:

Henry's appetite has diminished, and his lethargy returned.

Hoping it's all an aftershock to the vet visit, or the binding powder had a immediate effect, and he's reacting to some internal feeling.

I'll be on him to eat something, even if I have to tear open a dozen churu sticks.

Out and About

It's Walkin' and Readin' Wednesday!

Yay, have been able to get OUTSIDE to breathe fresh air without my face freezing.

*shhhh...shouldn't say that out loud, the Weather Gods will bring winter back*

New cats in the 'hood!

This wee kitty is very shy.

Marvelous eyes, and a fabulous fur pattern!
Have now petted this kitty three, four times at a house that's being updated, so not sure if he lives there or is a member of the construction crew.
Very friendly.

This is Niko, whom I haven't seen in the fur since the really cold weather began.
Niko just plops down and starts rolling around.
He's charming!

My most recent completed books/audiobooks:

M. A. Frick's Fate Unraveled Trilogy:
Forcing Fate
Following Fate
Fulfilling Fate
World-building, magic, dragons, and war, as Ayvanna finds her way through a world that tries to diminish her, but she won't hide her light under anyone's basket.

Richard Swan's Empire of the Wolf Trilogy:
The Justice of Kings
The Tyranny of Faith
The Trials of Empire
Strangely prescient for political maneuvering, with magic, emperors, and the veil between the living and darker realms, as Helena and Sir Konrad battle the forces of evil, while facing their own inner demons.

Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights
Had never read this before; okay, now I know that it's dark, even very dark, and moody.

Becky Aikman's Spitfires: The American Women Who Flew in the Face of Danger During World War II
Nonfiction history of American women who ferried new, barely tested fighters and bombers to air bases in the UK.

Weird Brain

March 3 is International Writers' Day.

To celebrate the contribution of writers, editors, and poets to literature, culture, and society.

A few author memes found on social media to celebrate the day:

Am a bookaholic, and will ask anyone I meet what they are reading.

So admire writers and authors!

Now that I'm retired and don't have that job limiting my reading/listening time, I'm focused on the 1,084 titles on my TBR list, which includes some of the folks who may read this post.
