Franz Marc (1880-1916) was a German printmaker and artist; he is considered to be one of the key figures of the Expressionist movement in Germany.
Expressionist artists often employed swirling, swaying, and exaggeratedly executed brushstrokes in the depiction of their subjects.
These techniques were meant to convey the emotional state of the artist, reacting to the anxieties of the modern world.
Franz Marc painted horses, elephants, deer, cows, gazelles, foxes...and cats!

Now. I have to say these are close tp being the only impressionistic paintings I LOVE and would be hapoy to have in my home if I could. These are beautiful!!!
