We are thankful that Spring is sprunging!
A few images from our garden:
Pussytoes |
Pussywillow |
Jack in the Pulpit |
Wood Poppy |
Violets |
The first two plants were must-haves for us, since they refer to cats!
There are other plants with weird names: Doll's Eyes, Spiderwort, and Rattlesnake Master.
Every plant that I add to the garden is a native Michigan plant, meaning it was thriving here before Europeans walked through after 1492.
Native plants are acclimated to the climate; they don't need to be pampered.
In addition, they attract native bees, bugs, birds, and bats; creatures who are under stress from lawn chemicals and insecticides, noise pollution, loss of habitat, and diseases brought in by non-native hosts.

Very pretty flowers. Spring suddenly showed up, so now we are finally starting to see some green and flowers around here.
ReplyDeleteSo cool that you have so many flowers that are friendly to insects and other wildlife. That helps ensure their survival :)

Lovely shots! We were interested in the Jack-in-the-Pulpit. We have something similar growing wild, called Lords and Ladies!

ReplyDeleteWe like that name Pussytoes, we don't have them in our garden...not yet!😸 Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend🐾😽💞
ReplyDeleteLove them all! But I love Jack-in-the-pulpit most of all!
ReplyDeleteI picked up some native plants from the garden centre yesterday
What great shots from your garden. Glad things are sprunging over there!
ReplyDeleteWe have some of those in our yard too, esp the back third of the acre, Last year I had some huge Jack-in-the-pulpits!
ReplyDeleteOver the years we have been here, I have been working to get out all the non native weeds and the invasive ones, too.
I would love to have some trilliums, they too are native here, but for me they are special, because they are Ontario's' provincial flower...where I come from!
Enjoy all the beauty of the natural world! Spring for sure has sprung...into midsummer!
Jack-in-the-Pulpit! I haven't seen or heard of him in a long time...
