Gorgeous Stuff

A very brief image slideshow of some of my very favorite sights in New York.

This trip was a visit with my family, and to attend the John Singer Sargent "Sargent and Paris" exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

We walked, we talked, we ate, we sweated, we road the subway, we walked the HighLine, we were on the water, we were in the park, we shopped, we laughed, we grumbled (a little), and WE HAD FUN!

❤️

And the only thing that I brought back with me besides photos?

  1. And what a charming and fun magnet it is too. So glad you had such an amazing time. The magnet will help you recall the time, draw all the memories in as it were.

  2. A refrigerator magnet is a great souvenir. Small and compact lightweight on the airplane and fun to look at for a long time.

    1. Fridge magnets have been my go-to souvenir for years, as well as greeting cards and scarves; all are very compact!
BTW, the slideshow was missing when you commented; it's updated now. Thanks.

  3. #1 asked us to say that she is hugely jealous that you saw the exhibition. She loved Sargent and many years ago, saw an amazing exhibition of works by him and other American artists in Paris, in London.

    1. It looks like the exhibition will be coming to the Musée d'Orsay in Paris from late September. Hurray!

    2. This is why we made this trip in the hottest part of the year, since normally I'd wait for cooler weather in New York, but the exhibit will close down before autumn, and the odds of me making it to France are slim. One day, yes...but not this year since I've already used up my travel budget. ;-)

  4. What a wonderful trip! We were at the Met about a month ago, and are hoping to go to the Frick sometime soon. We have a set of greeting cards that look just like your new magnet. :)

    1. I think I could live at The Met! Have you read the book written by a former Met security guard: "All the Beauty in the World
The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Me"
by Patrick Bringley. He's made his book into a one-man play also. Very insightful and personal.
