New Beginnings Animal Rescue

While not exactly a cat cafe, New Beginnings Animal Rescue allows a visitor to interact with all of the kitties.  Located in Royal Oak, Michigan, NBAR was established in 2010, and per their website: "We are completely run by volunteers, funded by donations, and powered by cat hair."

I visited NBAR last week for a fund-raising garage sale, and was given a site tour.  I didn't take photos of everything, but there are separate rooms for adult cats, kittens, new cats, and ornery cats.  In addition, there are display cages in the lobby, for those special cats that the staff know need even more interaction with humans.

"Lemme OUT!"

Snowball, who broke my heart as he gazed at
me from behind bars.  He's partially blind, and FIV+,
but friendly as all get out.

Seriously, how can a person be sad while holding kittens?
Nope, it's impawssible!

Napping for these two was more impawtant than making
goo-goo eyes at any potential adopter.
Not only do they adopt out cats, they have a cat food bank, for folks who meet a minimum requirement, so their pets won't go hungry.  They are seriously anti-declaw also.

This weekend, NBAR is having Whiskers and Whimsy Art Show, from 4 to 7 pm tonight, and 12 to 4 pm Saturday.  Lucky for me, I will drive there straight after work today, and still be home for dinner without The Hubby knowing about my stop!  I am a sneak, aren't I?

Thanks, Jan!

On Wednesday, I had to pleasure of meeting The Island Cats blog Mom, Sue Doute, aka The Lady with the Yellow Hair.  We met up at the Ferndale Catfe' Lounge, in Ferndale, Michigan and spent at least an hour playing with the adoptable kitties.  A great time was had by all!  Here are some images:

Just too adorable, and don't tell
Wally, Ernie or Zoey about it!

This is Max; he liked my lap!

In the back, they have places for shy cats

This kitty just stared down at us.
I gave a couple slow blinks, and he responded,
so he would warm up when there wasn't so much of a commotion

And this is my bag as mentioned in yesterday's post
Two Butt Thursday
and this kitten wanted inside!

These three will be seven months old on February 19.  My dear friends P&M adopted them, and are delighting in the happy group. The Cat Crew also includes Miss Sassy, who is around 2 years old, and elderly gent Spit Spot who is past 20!  Do you know what the bad thing is about all of this?  They live over 1,000 miles away!  How can I play with and love on all of these cuties?

Thank goodness for today's technologies...text messages and phone photos make sharing our babies with each other so much easier! Even from much too far away.
