I've never been so happy to see a poop!

DO NOT WORRY!  NO PHOTOS OF POOP AHEAD!

Working diligently on my computer last week, I heard a quiet noise in the corner.  It was Chucky, at the litter box.

And...he pooped.  And he covered it up and walked away.

Folks, you could have knocked me over with a feather!  You see, for quite some time, Chuck has disdained the litter box for #2, preferring a cardboard box top set aside especially for him.  Neither regular vet nor holistic vet had an answer for this behavior, other than 'it must be a territorial issue with the outside cats', or 'it's a symptom of constipation'.  But NO!  The Hubby and I knew it wasn't the other cats, and we've tweaked his food and meds to know that he's not backed up, if you know what I mean.  We feel that Chuck has had many BAD experiences in the litterbox, that he was AFRAID of it. He literally holds it until he couldn't hold any longer.  He pees just fine in the box though, during all this time.

This is why we chose to put Chuck on Zoloft.  It's taken a few months, but we can now see the change.  He's relaxing!  Of course I wanted to find a holistic and natural solution FIRST.  In the end, results mean more than anything else.  I was very happy to see that poop!  The Hubby politely declined to walk up the stairs to witness it himself.

So, for the past little while, Chuck is back to being a normal cat, using the litter box for everything.  I happily scoop the boxes every morning, counting poologs and peeballs.

Which brings me to Angel, who seems to be over her bladder infection and is depositing nicely sized pees for my enjoyment. Wait a minute, that doesn't sound right...

Well, no matter how it sounds, we are in a good litter box state around here! Shhh...don't say it too loudly and jinx it!

"I'm embarrassed, mom!  Hiding under here...Go 'way!"

"Oh, cannot even lift my head up around here anymore!
For shame, woman!"

  5. What good news! Our old sis PQ had the opposite problem that Chuck had--she wouldn't pee in the box! Mom had a special mat for her to use. (Even after being with us for years, she still equated peeing in the box with being terrified by a dog her former family had.)
