In Her Own Fashion

It's Sweetnesday!

Our wee one always keeps us on our toes.
"Where is she?"
"Oh..."
Sweetie: "I'm keeping my eyes on you!"

Best to remain far away from these!
Each day with Sweetie always has a surprise inside.

I've never been so happy to see a poop!

DO NOT WORRY!  NO PHOTOS OF POOP AHEAD!

Working diligently on my computer last week, I heard a quiet noise in the corner.  It was Chucky, at the litter box.

And...he pooped.  And he covered it up and walked away.

Folks, you could have knocked me over with a feather!  You see, for quite some time, Chuck has disdained the litter box for #2, preferring a cardboard box top set aside especially for him.  Neither regular vet nor holistic vet had an answer for this behavior, other than 'it must be a territorial issue with the outside cats', or 'it's a symptom of constipation'.  But NO!  The Hubby and I knew it wasn't the other cats, and we've tweaked his food and meds to know that he's not backed up, if you know what I mean.  We feel that Chuck has had many BAD experiences in the litterbox, that he was AFRAID of it. He literally holds it until he couldn't hold any longer.  He pees just fine in the box though, during all this time.

This is why we chose to put Chuck on Zoloft.  It's taken a few months, but we can now see the change.  He's relaxing!  Of course I wanted to find a holistic and natural solution FIRST.  In the end, results mean more than anything else.  I was very happy to see that poop!  The Hubby politely declined to walk up the stairs to witness it himself.

So, for the past little while, Chuck is back to being a normal cat, using the litter box for everything.  I happily scoop the boxes every morning, counting poologs and peeballs.

Which brings me to Angel, who seems to be over her bladder infection and is depositing nicely sized pees for my enjoyment. Wait a minute, that doesn't sound right...

Well, no matter how it sounds, we are in a good litter box state around here! Shhh...don't say it too loudly and jinx it!

"I'm embarrassed, mom!  Hiding under here...Go 'way!"

"Oh, cannot even lift my head up around here anymore!
For shame, woman!"

Why The Cat Litter Bag Ate My Wedding Ring

Married since 1993, I've continuously worn my wedding ring.

That is, until it became uncomfortable recently.  Because I'm not quite the same size I once was!

I put the ring on, and take it off again.  I put it in my pocket, or leave it on my dresser.

Next job on my agenda: add litter to boxes.  I tore off the sewn paper closure, and push it all into my pocket.  Why?  Because anything string-like attracts Chuck...and he will eat it.  String is not a good thing for a cat's innards, but Chuck loves to try...and try...and try.  Things like that must be hidden from his view, and quickly.

A new bag of litter

Reenactment: Empty litter bag, with detritus
After topping off the litter boxes, I dipped into my pocket to throw out the string and paper.  I sat down again, heartily pleased with myself for checking one chore off of my to-do list.

Later, I look for my ring, and I dig into my pocket to pull it out...and IT'S NOT THERE!

Whoa!  Freak!  Horrors!  Oh NO!  But...oh YES!  I'd thrown it out, into the empty litter bag, with the string and paper.  Careful to appear calm, I get up and stroll into the kitchen where that empty bag was placed.

I lucked out that 1) nothing else was tossed into that bag, like yucky coffee grounds or (even yuckier) litter box peeballs and pooplogs , and 2) The Hubby did not notice my panic, and the planet began spinning in its normal orbit again.  Ring gets stuffed into my pocket again.

Essentially, that cat litter bag ate my wedding ring, and I'm sticking to that story!

P.S. I used the terms 'peeballs' and 'pooplogs' in honor of an old friend, Orbit the cat.  His blog was a favorite of mine until Orbit decided to leave us on December 11, 2014.  His people tried to keep blogging, but we haven't heard from them in a while, here.  I hope they know that we are still thinking about them, and Orbit.

Disclaimer: Although my photo shows a particular brand of cat litter, I have not received compensation to include it in my blog or in any way am I selling it!  After all, those bags will eat your wedding ring!

Gone to her Furrever Home

Received a text message yesterday, that Shadow/Loretta was being adopted by a super couple who have no other cats.  She will be the queen of her own home, and they were picking her up Sunday afternoon.  I managed to get to the PetSmart about 30 minutes after she'd gone, but that's okay...why make a big, teary scene when she is going off to her happy home?  Goodbye, sweet Loretta...you'll live forever in my heart.  I hope your new humans keep in touch.

Luna
So, I spent some time with a few of Shadow's kittens, including Luna.  What a doll!  She has silvery fur, and big grey eyes.  People just stopped to stare at her, and there were a ton of folks shopping today!  Paws for the Cause are terrific people, and they care so much about feral and tame cats.  Hubby had to plead illness to get me outta there!

P.S. Please send purrs and healing vibes to my friend Orbit at Peeballs and Pooplogs.  Orbit is a rascally old fellow, who isn't feeling 100% and is going to the veterinarian.  Wishing him a quick recovery from whatever he's got going, and a special hope to his humans who are beside themselves with worry.
