Up The Wall

It's Inside Still A Bit Feral Friday!

Henry now allows me to pet him all along his back, his noggin, and his sides, and even scritches under his chinny chin chin!

Only first thing in the morning; all other times of the day, it's a no-go.

One thing, however:

Henry pees up the wall occasionally.

Thankfully, we have a supply of pee pads, so after the first incident was carefully cleaned, all liquid is neatly caught.

This occurs only at one litter box; the other seems not to cause him any distress.

His litter boxes are large, high-sided, and of course, he's the only user, so it's a puzzlement as to why he's behaving like this.

My first thought is to move the litter box, and The Hubby and I are carefully considering a new placement.

The vet reports that his kidney values are good, so it could be some territorial issue that we aren't cottoning onto, or he's frustrated if I am not home for the day (travel, work, family stuff).

I've told Henry that we aren't angry, just want to know what we can do to make him happy; so far, he's not telling.

Moving on Up

It's Inside Feral Friday!

GAH, Henry is so CUTE when napping!
Oh sure, stare at my TBR* reading pile!
*To Be Read
Gosh, Henry...no beddies for you to sleep in, only the toy box?
Look right, look left, dude!
Gazing down.
I often leave the screen door open at the top of the stairs, just to see what Henry does.

Newest Henry developments:

1) He's now allowing me to stroke his back. 🙌🏻
2) Before bed each night, he and I go on a spring toy hunt; me with a flashlight, as he watches and gets excited when I find one and toss it to him.🔦
3) The last photo on today's post is the first time I've captured Henry on the stairs-side of the open screen door; he's usually behind it, staring through the screen.🕵🏻‍♂️

We Won!

We won 2 bags of Garfield Cat Litter from Deziz World!  Very cool, and thanks!

Go here for more info on Garfield Cat Litter.  I chose Flushable Tiny Litter, as opposed to Flushable Grand Litter.  It's about the size of the granules.

This is what two 5-lb bags look like in a 15-gallon box!
Next to one of our usual litter boxes (with pee pads protecting
the knotty pine wainscotting...)
Angel investigates!
I purchased a new SUPER HUGE oval litter box; it's a 15-gallon pan that is used by farmers!  I wanted a big size, because Chucky is a long cat.  The little bit of Garfield's Cat Litter looks so teeny, tiny in the big box, but Angel took to it right away. Garfield's litter doesn't have much in the way of odor control, and it tracks around just like regular litter.  It's also not cheap, IMHO, from what I've found online.  We really appreciate the opportunity to try something new, especially when it's all natural.  Thanks again, Dezi, Raena and mom!

The Hubby and I hoped that a new box and litter might entice Chuck to investigate, but so far he's got a prime case of litter box avoidance.  I will post more about our recent visits to the holistic vet, the cat chiropractor, and how The Hubby and I are working with Chuck to encourage his confidence. If anyone has had experience with this, please comment to this post. Thanks!

What The Flap?

The Hubby has installed cat flaps in multiple places around our old house, to give Angel and Chuck access to rooms that we humans close up.  These images are from the once-porch-now-family room, leading into the dining area.  In the winter, this family room acts as a air lock, keeping the cold out of the main house.  The family room also is a bit of a storage area, but every window has a set up so the cats can look out comfortably.

Although I refrain from showing photos of litter boxes, you are looking at one here.  Notice the puppy pee pads taped to the knotty pine paneling, due to Chuck's insistence that he stand UP halfway through urination.  He does not do this every time, nor every day...but often enough that we need to preserve the house!  We believe this is a symptom of his constipation, or he may be getting arthritic.  We have a holistic vet visit scheduled for this coming Saturday; this is one item on my list to discuss with Dr. Sheppard.
