Unsuccessful Coaxing

It's PO'Monday!

Some images of some of my attempts to coax Celestial Paddy O'Malley inside over the years:

Front Door

We have two back doors: one off the kitchen downstairs, or on the first floor, and a second back door for upstairs, which was once a separate rental apartment.

This upper area is now considered Henryville, and the old two-story porch and deck for each floor, with stairway, was removed awhile ago when it got too old and musty.

The PO'M would only step in just so far, then leave, despite food, water, warmth, and my loving coaxing, at any of these doors!

Year after year after year.

It wasn't until July 24, 2021, when I opened the lower back door during a rainstorm, and reached out to pull him inside.

He lived in comfort until August 7, 2021, when he was unable to walk straight or breath properly, due to his lungs being completely filled, and he left us while in my arms, and my tears soaking his fur.

This isn't meant to be a Debbie Downer post; it's a celebration of how he lived his life; HIS WAY!

And how...for years...he told me how it was gonna be, yet I kept trying.

I loved that cat.

I love him now.

He was a huge part of my life; our lives.

WHAT A CAT!

*Waves To Crowd From Carriage*

May 24 is International Tiara Day!

"Barbara Bellissimo is generally regarded as the person who invented this holiday back in 2005.

She chose May 24th for the holiday because it coincides with Queen Victoria’s birthday, which occurred in 1819.
The purpose of this holiday is to encourage women everywhere to wear a tiara and get in touch with their inner princesses, and as a result, their inner beauty." - HolidaysCalendar.com

Only one tiara at Eastside Cats, and it belonged to Celestial Sweetie. ❤️

Henry Update:

Henry hid on Saturday morning, to avoid his meds.

Henryville has two bedrooms, the spare room, and the old kitchenette, as well as my office.

I must close doors to remove access to Henry's hideaways, but didn't latch one well enough, and it swung open enough for him to sneak off to the linen closet.

In the end, he received his doses.

Someone needs to do a better job of door management!

Revision

 Well now.

Henry had stopped eating again.

And he lay around like a 10-pound slug.

Monday, I took him to see his regular veterinarian.

The doc resumed his appetite stimulant, changed to a different eye med, and added doxycycline (antibiotic) to the rotation.

The top photo below shows how his inner eyelid is acting strange, and that should have improved.

He was given a B12 shot and subcutaneous liquids.

However, I took to photo to show off his curly eyebrow whisker!

Henry WAS feeling better, hence him watching birds from the bathroom window, which I viewed from the bedroom window.

Yes, the temps were warm enough...for ONE DAY...to open the windows!

Also, I am to find a baby nebulizer to use on Henry, to loosen up any congestion.

As of this moment, he's hiding under the dresser, so we'll just let him simmer down before this new onslaught of meds.

Rest easy, little one.

A good nap and some chow will go a long way to making things feel alright.

Oh wait, that goes for me too!

Uneasy in Easyville

It's Formerly Feral Friday, and Henryville has been a snoozefest.

Henry spends a tiny bit of time playing with toys, then he climbs on the bed to enjoy his dreams in softness and warmth.

However, this human has been concerned as Henry stopped eating his meals, preferring to only lick churu sticks, like those pictured below.
There have been no changes to his food, same bowls as always, and no differences noticed in his litter box depositing.

This began on Tuesday, so by the time this post appears, he's either over whatever it was, or I've scheduled a vet appointment.

Oh, H Man, please eat your dinner!

~UPDATE~

Called the vet's office Thursday afternoon, and was told that if I could bring him in right away, they'd have time to see him.

Whelp...Henry removed 'formerly' from his FERAL!

He hissed, he jumped, he pooped, he growled, and he ran like the wind, and hid like a ninja!

Gotta admire his stamina.

The pic above is Henry perched on the railing overlooking the stairs below, and that's when I called a halt to persuading him into the carrier.

He did NOT go to the vet.

We'll be keeping an eye on him, and hope he'll return to his usual eating manner, and doesn't try to kill me in my sleep in retribution.

A Change of Mind

How 'bout a Formerly Feral Friday on Thankful Thursday?

Am chuffed that Henry has found our bed to sleep on, our windows to look out of, and that he snugs up to me.

A year ago, I wouldn't have though we'd be here.

I adore him!

It's His Bed Now

It's Formerly Feral Friday, starring Henry The Ninth!

Henry is now a regular overnight sleeper with me.

He allows petting, and he snugs up to me.

He also sleeps all day on the bed, but he dislikes the quilt and fleece blanket (my cold-weather combo), so I rolled them back.

I even went grabbyhands and put him on my lap yesterday, as I sat in my reading glider.

He didn't freak out, and allowed me to make kissy noises at him, then he jumped down.

Caption for the photo above:

Me: "Smoochy smoochy smooch, Henry!"
Henry: *what the heck???*

Hahaha!

Bed Cat

It's Selfie Sunday!

Henry just had to show off that he was up on the bed.

He didn't jump but rather was picked up and snuggled, but he took it with good grace.

Plus, the sun lit up his wee sweet face.

Artified with my Prisma Hot Tea filter.

Delightful

 It's Inside Feral Friday!

D'aww, isn't he just the cutest?!?

He's still not 100% comfortable, yet he's so much more so now then EVER.

Purr Increase

It's Inside and Even Less Feral Friday!

The humans are so happy in Henryville, as some milestones have been reached:

1) Henry allows petting while sitting on the rug, as I walk up to him.

2) Henry has been combed and brushed.

3) Henry has been smooched on the noggin!!!

However, he's made it very clear that he dislikes the swishing noise of our winter puffy coats.

🧥 🥶 😼

As I type this, he's sitting at my feet, alternately rubbed against my shins and meowing for attention.

And he just licked my hand, as I reached down to give him some love.

Lovey Dovey

It's Inside and Less Feral Friday!

Ta-DA!

Henry likes pets; video below:

Thank you for the feedback on last week's post: Up The Wall.

Henry has not done 'it' in a week; could be that having his fur stroked and combed will smooth out his anxiety?

Those pee pads will remain in place for some time yet; let's just see how it goes.

EDIT: Yeah, he high-peed last night...that'll show me. 😹

Cannot convince Henry to jump up on the bed; bending over is hard on our backs, dude, so c'mon up!

Henry is also hanging around my feet as I work at my desk, and I scratch his ears and noggin as often as I can.

Baby paw steps.

Henry is such a cutie!

Up The Wall

It's Inside Still A Bit Feral Friday!

Henry now allows me to pet him all along his back, his noggin, and his sides, and even scritches under his chinny chin chin!

Only first thing in the morning; all other times of the day, it's a no-go.

One thing, however:

Henry pees up the wall occasionally.

Thankfully, we have a supply of pee pads, so after the first incident was carefully cleaned, all liquid is neatly caught.

This occurs only at one litter box; the other seems not to cause him any distress.

His litter boxes are large, high-sided, and of course, he's the only user, so it's a puzzlement as to why he's behaving like this.

My first thought is to move the litter box, and The Hubby and I are carefully considering a new placement.

The vet reports that his kidney values are good, so it could be some territorial issue that we aren't cottoning onto, or he's frustrated if I am not home for the day (travel, work, family stuff).

I've told Henry that we aren't angry, just want to know what we can do to make him happy; so far, he's not telling.

Moving on Up

It's Inside Feral Friday!

GAH, Henry is so CUTE when napping!
Oh sure, stare at my TBR* reading pile!
*To Be Read
Gosh, Henry...no beddies for you to sleep in, only the toy box?
Look right, look left, dude!
Gazing down.
I often leave the screen door open at the top of the stairs, just to see what Henry does.

Newest Henry developments:

1) He's now allowing me to stroke his back. 🙌🏻
2) Before bed each night, he and I go on a spring toy hunt; me with a flashlight, as he watches and gets excited when I find one and toss it to him.🔦
3) The last photo on today's post is the first time I've captured Henry on the stairs-side of the open screen door; he's usually behind it, staring through the screen.🕵🏻‍♂️

It's Selfie Sunday!

Henry couldn't decide which of these made him look cuter, so he insisted both be included today.

Bonks

It's Inside Feral Friday at Henryville!

And looky looky...

Henry just cannot help but bonk bonk bonk my shins, and he was busy enough to allow me to pet his tailio!

Henry is also purring; did you hear him?

Henry, you da MAN!

😻😻😻

P. S. Thank you for the kind comments in honor of our wedding anniversary, and for mourning Celestial Chuck.

An Imposter!

Had forgotten about an adorable ceramic cat statue that we were gifted many years ago.

It sorta looks like Henry, so I put them together, for a double-selfie effect.

At least they have matching tailios.
