A Change of Mind

How 'bout a Formerly Feral Friday on Thankful Thursday?

Am chuffed that Henry has found our bed to sleep on, our windows to look out of, and that he snugs up to me.

A year ago, I wouldn't have though we'd be here.

I adore him!

Marching

It's time for Sunday Selfies!

This first day of March is the purrfect time for a Henry-up-on-the-bed selfie.

When I stir in the early morning, he nips up and snuggles against my leg with his purr machine on.

This has happened for about three days.

I try to stay in place for as long as possible, as encouragement for him to remain with me, and he enjoys petting until I lapse into sleep again.

For a youngish lad living rough for who-knows-how-long, this achievement makes me so happy.

And a word to March:
Let's Hop!

Lovey Dovey

It's Inside and Less Feral Friday!

Ta-DA!

Henry likes pets; video below:

Thank you for the feedback on last week's post: Up The Wall.

Henry has not done 'it' in a week; could be that having his fur stroked and combed will smooth out his anxiety?

Those pee pads will remain in place for some time yet; let's just see how it goes.

EDIT: Yeah, he high-peed last night...that'll show me. 😹

Cannot convince Henry to jump up on the bed; bending over is hard on our backs, dude, so c'mon up!

Henry is also hanging around my feet as I work at my desk, and I scratch his ears and noggin as often as I can.

Baby paw steps.

Henry is such a cutie!

The Struggle is Real

Sleeping with cats is an adventure...and sometimes it's a struggle!
But worth it!

Sweetie's Den

It's Sweetnesday!
Sure, Sweetie spends time on the bed, looking cute...
...but she also uses her den...
...where getting photos is bit tough.

This upsidedown bin, Sweetie's Den, was a prototype litter box.

We used it for various things after it's failure as a litter box, then it was cleaned, turned over, and a blanket added as a pad.

Sweetie spends 1/2 of her day here...except when I try to take photos of her.

She stalks off to the bed in protest.

Careful!

Sweetnesday!

Sweetie prefers that human hands stay at a distance from her.
Soon, however, she sinks peacefully into the Land of Nod!
I wonder if her previous human used to smack her, or use his hands to 'play'.

I lie in bed, reading a book while Sweetie is on my chest, and the simple act of reaching up to rub my eyes will make her bite at my hands.

She has few teeth, so there is no injury, and I strive to ignore the sorrow, rage, and heartbreak that well up inside me, when I think about this kitty having had to endure mistreatment of some kind by a human, and her years spent out-of-doors, having kittens, and living rough before we found her.

As much as possible, I keep my hands flat on the bed, or I bend over to smooch her sweet noggin with my hands firmly out and nowhere near her.

Uh-oh...

As I sat on the bed this morning, Chucky suddenly ran into the room, and made like a badger running into it's den with the bedclothes.

See the biggish lump in the middle of the photo? That's Chucky!

I slid back under, and petting him gently, telling him he's alright; it's all alright!  I advised The Hubby to make a floor check, and yep, some bits of stuff that Chuck usually leaves in the litter box was found. Obviously, his tummy or intestines were upset, and he crawled under the blankets to soothe himself.

Chucky, in hiding

Fortunately, this drama was short-lived, because when I opened a can of cat crack (known by most folks as: BFF Tuna & Tilapia Twosome Recipe in Aspic Grain-Free Canned Cat Food) a short while later, Chuck ran out from under the covers and right up to his breakfast bowl.  Since then, I've had no other reports of problems; hopefully Chuck is back up to snuff again.

In the past, Chucky under the covers meant lots of laundry, if you know what I mean. When we see the veterinarian next week, we'll discuss this latest event, which is probably a nothing-burger. Will admit, it was very nice to have five full minutes alone with Chucky all snuggled with me in the bed, even ifbut that's a bit selfish.

Have a terrific weekend! 😸

Evidence

Some cat tromped across the shirt that lay on my bed!  By the depth of the impressions, I'm going to accuse CHUCK for stepping on my stuff while I was away at the office.
