Canvas

Sweetie-nes-day!

We do not trim Sweetie's nails, and we mostly stay clear of those murder mitts.

However, the bedclothes take a real beating!

I mentioned this to family members who gifted us with yards of heavy, canvasy fabric, to use as an experiment.

Which fabric, tossed across the bed, will keep Sweetie from constantly having pull her claws out of the quilt?
The selections, laid out and inspected.
Pale pink canvas.
Dark brown canvas, although it doesn't look dark in this image.
Close up of the murder mitts...and why pale pink is not such a good color for a shedding black cat!

The brown canvas belonged to my late grandfather.

The pale pink is the purrfect size for the bed, and we'll keep it de-furred.

There is also a small piece of floral canvas, which will nicely wrap the chair that Sweetie uses as her backyard window look-out.

There was a length of blue denimy stuff, which was dreamily soft, but Sweetie's claws caught in it too easily.

What we do for our furbabies!

I want to be a cat!

Sweetnesday!

While I work over a hot keyboard, Sweetie naps.

Oops, I woke her up!
Now, she's purring and kneading.
This is the view from my desk; Sweetie has it made in the shade!

On Monday, since it was a day off from work, I pretended to be a cat, and napped in the late morning, then again in the afternoon.

It was hot outside, and muggy, so other than avoiding chores, why not be a cat for a day?

Sweetie's Den

It's Sweetnesday!
Sure, Sweetie spends time on the bed, looking cute...
...but she also uses her den...
...where getting photos is bit tough.

This upsidedown bin, Sweetie's Den, was a prototype litter box.

We used it for various things after it's failure as a litter box, then it was cleaned, turned over, and a blanket added as a pad.

Sweetie spends 1/2 of her day here...except when I try to take photos of her.

She stalks off to the bed in protest.

Aptly Named

Sweetnesday!

Our former feral seems to be slowing down some.

Could be the super hot and muggy weather.

Could be her age; she was a youngster in 2009 when we TNR'd her, but she's at least 13 years old now...and not all of them were good years.

Could be my tendency to worry about the cats too, which means she could be purrfectly normal!

All I know is that I love her, despite the murder mitt claw rips in the quilt...and in my clothes...and the scratches on my arms!

It's my fault that I try to hug her...after years of watching her from afar, having her close enough to gather into my arms just overrides that "Danger!" signal!

Notice the tiny white patch on her tummy
Enjoy a jigsaw puzzle by clicking on the image above!
The curl in her tail as she is zonked out...SQUEE!!!

But, she head bonks me, and head bonks my book or phone, and the purring!

I pat my chest when lying down as a signal, and she steps up to snuggle in.

WORTH IT!!!

Same as it ever was

It's Sweetnesday!

Sweetie roams all over her apartment, but my ability to snap photos of her under the dresser or behind the claw-foot bathtube is limited.

When I look through my library of images, I come up with this:
May 7: Sweetie on the bed
April 3: Overhead view of Sweetie on the bed
May 11: Sweetie on the bed
LOL!

She likes to lay in the middle of the bed, when she's not in her Sweetie Spa.

The quilt makes a lovely backdrop, however it will be gone soon when the temperatures rise.

Toasty

Sweetnesday!

Since our temperatures have begun to drop, I had the distinct impression that Sweetie was feeling a bit chilly.

When I climb out of bed, she dives into the warmth that I'd left behind.

She always naps in the sunpuddles, so I dug around.

Sunpuddle Napping
I found a heated beddy, and plugged it in.

Toasty!
I surprised her just now!
Sweetie, whatever you need, I'll make it happen!

💗I love you💓
