"In 1963, an artist called Harvey Ball created the image of the smiley face for a local company. 

The design was never trademarked, and lots of people liked it and began to use it. 

It became a very well-known symbol and morphed into the emoji that we all know today

Ball didn’t mind that his creation became so popular, but he was worried that the original meaning of his design had been forgotten. 

To remedy this, he created World Smile Day, and was first held in 1999. 

The event runs each year on the first Friday in October, and attempts to spread some joy, and lift people’s spirits."

Thankful Thursday: Sweetie...

I know that every cat lover is thankful for the belly laughs, giggles, snickers, and guffaws that our furry friends allow us to share...as long as we don't let them see us laughing!

While we are all reeling from the horrible events in Orlando, and the recent deaths of The Greatest Muhammad Ali and Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe, plus five bicyclists in Kalamazoo, Michigan, I received the following image:

This is my brother, inside the drop trap that The Hubby and I built for his hard-to-catch mama cat.  Looks like he needs further instructions!

And here I am before work, with my pants legs covered in Sweetie's fur.  I stood outside this morning already dressed (sometimes I'm out there in my jammies, much to my neighbor's dismay :-(...), and Sweetie decided she would rather give and get love than eat her breakfast!  I was happy to accommodate her desires; lucky I have a lint roller at the office.  Then again, maybe I'll just leave it all there, as a symbol of love.

Because that is the only way out of this, folks...LOVE.
