Australian Veterinary Association Takes a Stand Against De-Clawing!

http://www.ava.com.au/policy/31-surgical-alteration-natural-state-animals

The Australian Veterinary Association has officially taken a stand against surgically altering an animal if the action is not necessary to the life of the animal.

Here is a list of surgeries that they are AGAINST:

  • 6.8 Tail docking and ear cropping of dogs
  • 6.9 Debarking of dogs
  • 6.10 Claw removal in dogs, cats and ferrets
  • 6.11 Demusking of ferrets
  • 14.15 Venomoid surgery in snakes
Yay!  It's a step in the right direction; let's let the world know!

Time for other nations to take this same stand!  De-claw should be OUTLAWED!

And tail docking and ear cropping too; what a disgusting thing to do to a puppy!

Save the toes!

  1. Yay for the Australian Vet Assn. The American Vet Med Assn didn't go as far as to say they're always opposed, but maybe they'll get there soon! Their recent statement is at https://www.avma.org/News/PressRoom/Pages/2014-declaw-policy.aspx
There are other options to declawing.

  2. Declawing should be illegal everywhere in the world. Declawing, debarking of dogs and those cruelty make me feel upset and really sad. Hooray for Australian Veterinary Association. This sure is a great step forward!
