Now, we have all lived through thunderstorms before, but last night are extreme. Normally, there are lots of bright flashes, and rolls of thunder as the rain pours down. Last night, there were only a couple super-white sparks that lit up the entire sky, then dead quiet. After a beat, the thunder hit hard, fast, and REALLY LOUD!
This phenomenon made the humans jump out of their skin, and Angel and Chuck were completely freaked out! I never located Angel after the second big lightning strike, and coincidently I was petting Chuck when the last one hit, just before 11 pm our time. He was in his new-old, favorite sleeping spot in the bay window, and of course was surrounded by three windows!
News reports came out that reported an explosion nearby, but it was only the lightning and thunder! Crazy stuff, people!
Chucky in the cup beddy, in the bay window Why he wants to sleep there in the dead of winter...? This photo was taken on a warmer day |
Oh my! Stay inside where it's safe and warm! I remember visiting Michigan one summer and we had to go inside because of lightning on the lake where my grandparents lived.
ReplyDeleteOh dear me we are very very very accustomed to lightning and thunder storms and hail and such. They nose is truly scary. After 15 years of hearing them I don't freak out but I will meander in the room where the peeps are and sit close to mom's feet. Now mom on the other hand has lived with these type storms all her life and she is kinda sorta petrified of them. So much so when they start she often stuffs me in my PTU. Mainly cause there are so many huge pine trees that draw the lightning. We've had all ours cut down but the neighbors have them.
ReplyDeleteHugs madi your bfff
It must have been really scary for Chuck and Angel. That would freak out my boys, too!
ReplyDeleteIt's so weird how it thunders and snows at the same time these days. Just what is happening with our weather?

ReplyDeleteDat sounds like our thunderstorms. Now ya' know why me gets (whispers) scared. Me doesn't know 'bout Raena, but maybe since she was born durin' storm season, she's used to them. Anyways, we're just glad you're all safe. Big hugs
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'
Dezi and Raena
Like Madi and mom, we are also very familiar with these storms. No fun though, it can get very intense.
ReplyDeleteOur Sadie is very afraid of thunderstorms.
ReplyDeleteCrazy weather! We had thunder and lightning here this morning!
ReplyDeleteYeah it was BAD last night wasn't it? Seemed like summer! Like The Island Cats we had another thunderstorm this morning too! catchatwithcarenandcody
ReplyDeleteThat sounds very scary.
ReplyDeleteHow very scary! We don't like thunder AT ALL. At least we've never been hit, although cats Eddie and Sophie and Mom had a house that was hit by lightning--she was in the basement doing something and the kids *tore* down the steps to hide behind the washer! (No fire or anything but several electronic devices bit the dust.)
ReplyDeleteChucky, you look so beautiful and comfy!
ReplyDeleteYikes. I'm not a fan of huge thunder & lightening storms, especially ones that shake the house! Hope everything has settled down and no one was too traumatized.
ReplyDeleteOh, we hate the noise from the sky too. Keep safe!
ReplyDeleteWow! We've heard about thundersnow and some people thought we had some Tuesday night but it turned out to be transformers blowing out. Brrrr.... stay toasty there, Chucky!
ReplyDeleteWow! Does sound scary! Happy Rubber Ducky Day!!
