P.S.  On my drive into the office this morning, I witnessed a poor squirrel get run over by the car in the lane next to me.  I slowed when I saw the creature dart out across three lanes, so he made it across the fourth (my lane), but not the fifth.  The only other time that I've watched an animal get run over, was about 15 years ago, and I cried for 15 minutes.  Yes, we can discuss the horrible number of animal/car strikes that happen daily, and what can be done.  My main concern: what if the animal is only hurt, but still alive?  The ensuing suffering that I envision, makes me sad.  Telling me that "It's God's Will," or "Death is a part of life", is all well and good, but I'm in a funk today, hoping that the squirrel died instantly.

  1. I hate it when critters are run over too. The last one I saw was horrible too.

    Big healing hug. ♥

  2. So sad to see critters getting run over. I try to slow down if I see an animal running across the road.

  3. I hit a squirrel once because when I swerved he swerved, but the wrong way; it bothered the H out of me for days on end. I hope he died instantly too....♥♥♥

  4. Sweetie is doing her gymnast exercises. I'm sure that is a move I have seen in the Olympics. I hope you you have a good weekend.

  6. Oh it's so sad about the squirrel :(
We almost had an accident recently - dog has run on our lane. We barely stopped the car, but luckily dog has escaped!
    God, it was terrible!

  8. Run over by a car, I'm sure the squirrel died immediately. Nonetheless, it is a discouraging sight to see.

  9. Upsets me when I see an animal dead by the road. I saw my parents' dog get run over and unfortunately, it was like slow motion :-(

  10. Those are some good bloopers. I'n sorry about the squirrel. It always leaves me in a funk when I see dead animals in the roadway. I say a prayer for them.

  11. I understand. In high school, I saw someone hit a deer. It was my birthday, but it ruined the whole day. We humans keep developing and that takes land away from the critters.

  13. Thanks for joining us! These are great :)

The other day on my way to work I saw a bunny in the middle of the road. Hours later it was squashed on the side of the road. I couldn't help but wonder if it had been still alive the first time I saw him and tried to across, only to get hit again. I was heartbroken.

  17. So where are the fails? :-)

I witnessed a cat get hit a little over a year ago; the driver could not have stopped in time. However, they also didn't stop at all and I'm not sure how they could not have known. I pulled over and moved the poor thing from the middle of the road and then stood there in a stupor. I kept thinking, This cat was just going home for breakfast! Some kind man stopped to help *me* and together we found the cat's family. I think of that poor cat every time I drive the road.

  20. Fails or not, all your photos are priceless. Dad has seen his share of animals getting hit over the years, too. He even hit a dog once that darted out from nowhere in the dark, and even though he stopped the dog ran off into the woods. Hopefully it was okay. He saw a big dog get struck on a busy highway up in Hartford, CT years ago, and there was so much traffic it would've been deadly for anyone to try to stop. It was so sad.
