A Day Without

It's Sweetnesday!

Last Saturday, we had severe winds, with gusts that brought down part of a HUGE Maple tree in a neighbor's yard:
Tree fell across neighbor's garage and cars, then over the alley...
(Close up of smushed van)
...into our next-door neighbor's backyard!
We did NOT lose power at this time; that occured when someone else's tree lay across the wires a little while later.

Luckily, we were without electricity for only a day.

The Hubby and I put on our winter coats, and drank plenty of hot beverages.

Da Boyz curled up together, but poor Sweetie was without her Sweetie Spa heated beddy!
She tried to stay warm under the blanket, but it was unsatisfactory.
That night, she crawled on top of me, to use my body heat.

When I awoke, she was on my head!
Sweetie: "I'm in my Sweetie Spa, and no one is allowed to make it go cold again!"

Our prayers go out to those in Kentucky and elsewhere, who were severely affected by same storm system, to much more devastating results.

A day without power means nothing, when we still have a roof over our heads.

  1. When those big trees come down they cause lots of damage. I'm glad you're safe and the electricity is back on.

Your babies know how to stay warm and I've had kitties that like to sleep in my head too. Bless their hearts.

Prayers for all those that are dealing with the tornadoes. So horrific.

Have a fabulous day. Scritches to the kitties. ♥

  4. I'm glad it was only for a day. Poor Sweetie, she came inside to keep cozy so it's confusing to her.

  5. That is one big mess with that neighbor's tree!
We have high winds right now again.

We are praying for all those affected by those horrible tornadoes.

  6. We have very bad winds here, but we - and the trees - are used to them, so fewer trees fall here. I had to chuckle at Sweetie using her head - or, rather, yours - to stay warm. (I'm so very glad she's an insider-cat now. Can you imagine her outside, trying to stay warm? It doesn't bear thinking about.)

  8. Sometimes I think nature is very mad at us. I am glad you didn't have any major damage and no one was hurt.

  9. Yikes! We had a similar storm last weekend but we were lucky as no damage came with the storm.
There was lots of lightning and thunder, but all it did was melt all the snow.
Glad you did not have much damage!

  16. Our huMom was leery of getting anything that had to be plugged in for us (she doesn't even have an electric blankt) but she ordered a bed with a layer of that foil they use for emergency blankets, so our own bodatey heat gts it warm..and whoever gets to it first gets it for the day! So it would keep Sweetie warm no matter what.

  17. Sorry you lost power. We had those crazy winds too. We lost a couple of roof shingles off the garage but otherwise were ok.

  18. We had some dreadful winds here, too. The destruction in some parts of the state is amazing, including the absolute flattening of pines near Taos. We're glad you fared well enough. Poor Sweetie with no heated bed though!

  19. Scary storms! I'm glad you stayed safe. Your attitude is spot on. ~hugs~ The massive storm system crawling eastward today looks alarming. ~sigh~ I pray there is no more high wind/tornado damage. Take care!
