Harmony

So much unrest.

Too much hatred.

Let's each do our share to bring calm and harmony to our slices of reality.

Love others as ourselves.

Turn away from violence and hate.

International Day of Peace

21 September is designated by The United Nations as International Day of Peace.

Read more here,

This year’s theme is Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #GlobalGoals

It is a call to action that recognizes our individual and collective responsibility to foster peace.

Fostering peace contributes to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals will create a culture of peace for all.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said, "Peace is needed today more than ever.

War and conflict are unleashing devastation, poverty, and hunger, and driving tens of millions of people from their homes.

Climate chaos is all around.

And even peaceful countries are gripped by gaping inequalities and political polarization."

It means more than you know.

International Day of Peace

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September.

The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.

But achieving true peace entails much more than laying down arms.

It requires the building of societies where all members feel that they can flourish.

It involves creating a world in which people are treated equally, regardless of their race.

I have begun to quiet my own mind in steps, by avoiding television and social media news.

In addition, being aware of negative and judgmental thoughts is a new process for me.

There is so very much to be thankful for.

While we all want to change the world, why not start at home?

International Day of Peace #peaceday

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September.
The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.

In 2021, as we heal from the COVID-19 pandemic, we are inspired to think creatively and collectively about how to help everyone recover better, how to build resilience, and how to transform our world into one that is more equal, more just, equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and healthier.

The pandemic is known for hitting the underprivileged and marginalized groups the hardest.
By April 2021, over 687 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered globally, but over 100 countries have not received a single dose.
People caught in conflict are especially vulnerable in terms of lack of access to healthcare.

In line with the Secretary-General’s appeal for a global ceasefire last March, in February 2021 the Security Council unanimously passed a resolution calling for Member States to support a “sustained humanitarian pause” to local conflicts.
The global ceasefire must continue to be honoured, to ensure people caught in conflict have access to lifesaving vaccinations and treatments.

The pandemic has been accompanied by a surge in stigma, discrimination, and hatred, which only cost more lives instead of saving them: the virus attacks all without caring about where we are from or what we believe in.
Confronting this common enemy of humankind, we must be reminded that we are not each other’s enemy. To be able to recover from the devastation of the pandemic, we must make peace with one another.

And we must make peace with nature.
Despite the travel restrictions and economic shutdowns, climate change is not on pause.
What we need is a green and sustainable global economy that produces jobs, reduces emissions, and builds resilience to climate impacts.

The 2021 theme for the International Day of Peace is
“Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world”.

We invite you to join the efforts of the United Nations family as we focus on recovering better for a more equitable and peaceful world.
Celebrate peace by standing up against acts of hate online and offline, and by spreading compassion, kindness, and hope in the face of the pandemic, and as we recover.

Peace.
Love.

International Day Of Peace

"Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.

This year, it has been clearer than ever that we are not each other’s enemies. Rather, our common enemy is a tireless virus that threatens our health, security and very way of life. COVID-19 has thrown our world into turmoil and forcibly reminded us that what happens in one part of the planet can impact people everywhere.

In March, UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on all warring parties to lay down their weapons and focus on the battle against this unprecedented global pandemic. While the message is intended for armed parties, solidarity and cooperation across borders, sectors and generations are also needed to win this new fight against the worst public health crisis of our time."

Visit UN.org for more details.

Let us all do what we can to make our world less violent and more peaceful.

1. Smile more, even when wearing your mask.  Your eyes will show the smile!

2. If you see a post that you doesn't match your opinion...scroll past it.

3. Sincerely try to walk in another's shoes; we cannot know what trials they are going through just by looking.

4. Reach out to those that you haven't communicated with recently.

4. Discontinue use of Round Up, which poisons not only the weeds, but damages insect life, birds, and our water systems.

Peace and love to you all!

All We Need Is Love: International Day of Peace 2016

"Question"
1970, by The Moody Blues

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war?

'cause when we stop and look around us
There is nothing that we need.
In a world of persecution that is burning in its greed.

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door?
Because the truth is hard to swallow
That's what the war of love is for.

It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me.
It's more the way that you mean it
When you tell me what will be.

And when you stop and think about it
You won't believe it's true.
That all the love you've been giving
Has all been meant for you.

I'm looking for someone to change my life.
I'm looking for a miracle in my life.
And if you could see what it's done to me
To lose the love I knew
Could safely lead me through.

Between the silence of the mountains
And the crashing of the sea
There lies a land I once lived in
And she's waiting there for me.

But in the grey of the morning
My mind becomes confused
Between the dead and the sleeping
And the road that I must choose.

I'm looking for someone to change my life.
I'm looking for a miracle in my life.
And if you could see what it's done to me
To lose the love I knew
Could safely lead me to
The land that I once knew.
To learn as we grow old
The secrets of our souls.

It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me.
It's more the way you really mean it
When you tell me what will be.

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war?

When we stop and look around us
There is nothing that we need.
In a world of persecution that is burning in its greed.

This song was written during the Vietnam War, by a British rock band after touring in the United States.  I mention it today, the International Day of Peace, because every day, the feeling of LOVE for each other and everything on this planet needs to be expressed.  Surely, when bad things happen, like terrorism, we humans cannot understand the evil, and become hurt and dangerous.  Having the love of a cat...or if you are lucky, many cats!...can seriously improve one's outlook.

I held a purring Angel to my chest this morning, and her love and warmth just melted the knot of frustration that was building in me before commuting to work (which seems like a battle, let me tell you!)  So therefore, I say unto you...Get a Cat, and Know Peace!
